◙ RAID ◙ Confiteor Deo

Post by Raid Controller on Thu Apr 16, 2015 9:58 pm

Ding....
Dong....

In the twilight hours, the city fell into a quiet lull. The sun had set. The devout who tended to the chapel now spoke in prayers, whispered to the heavens. There was but a moment of blissful peace, before suddenly...the light returned to the sky.

Eyes looked above. How could this be, at this late hour? It was night, and yet...in the distance, a glow like fire was creeping back into the clouds.

A terrible, ear-splitting screech filled the air, shaking the very earth as it echoed across the world. The clatter woke every still soul, and those who gazed out their windows found only a sight of horror. A massive shape swooped overhead, with fiery wings glowing as though set upon by the very coals of Hell itself.
With a thunderous rumble, the great and powerful beast landed upon the very face of the beloved Notre Dame, tearing its talons into the stone masterpiece, and gave a scream so vicious and heart-wrenching, that it nearly shattered the beautiful glass windows to the holy shrine. It dared to see any who would defy it -- this world was in its claim, now.

Spoiler:

Hellfire had arrived.

She didn't care much for the Heartless. Then again, she cared little for anything. However, it would not be well to her cause to simply ignore such a threat to the innocents of the world. Perhaps in combating this threat, she would find an answer to her question. After all, her purpose was to bring an equalization to Light and Dark. The only thing she had to know, now, was understand which of the two sides was weaker.

Dashing through the charred and rubble-strewn streets of the normally peaceful world, she found herself guided only by the terrible screech from the beast's maw. It echoed, a cry of proud defiance, against the populace of the defenseless. It sought to claim this world, and its people. This was unacceptable. She simply wouldn't allow it. This was an overbalance of Darkness. It would not do.

Skidding as she made a sharp turn around a corner, the Nobody found herself staring up at the marvelous landmark cathedral. Normal circumstances would have her admiring the lovely structure. However, there appeared to be a piece of architecture that was uglier than the rest -- uglier, and glowing red hot with embers of malice. This appeared to be the disturbance she had been seeking. Excellent.

Unknown unhitched her Judge's Scale, allowing one weight of the meteor hammer to fall to the cobblestone ground with a thud. Beginning slowly, she began to whirl the other end around her forearm, allowing for its momentum to pick up. Such a blight of Darkness would not be tolerated, so long as she were able to end it. The equality of the two sides must be kept. This was her purpose.
She would fulfill her purpose.

If a person saw a huge, gaping hole in the ground where monsters crawled out by the dozens, the usual and logical action to take would be to stand back and observe, or run away with arms flailing wildly in the air. However, having seen the same thing a few times already, one would grow quite curious as to what lay beyond. Being a person who had nothing to lose, there was no second guessing his course of action. With weapons securely strapped on and sense of self-preservation locked up behind the bars of 'Eh, what the hell', Zulu jumped through the abyss.

There was another reason why he jumped. He was attempting to understand how these... Corridors of Darkness worked, believing that this was what brought him to the world of Radiant Garden in the first place. As he was traveling through, he found that the hole he jumped into was very much similar to the one he remembered before waking up on a new world. Through word of mouth and overhearing tavern conversations, he learned that there were people who could consciously call upon these portals. If he knew how to do that, well, there was a treasure trove of possibilities with that kind power. His on-board computer was scanning the corridor, attempting to gather how its inner mechanisms worked. Unfortunately, he was spat out before it could fully understand.

With a heavy impact that created a crater on the roof of the Cathedral marking his arrival, he clumsily got to his feet. He hit his head a couple of times with his fist before his sight stabilized. "Damned implants..." he grumbled. He looked around to see where he landed this time. He was definitely high up, that was for sure. The spiky towers, and the overall feel of the environment suggested he was in a... medieval-like world. As a growl registered in his ears, he turned behind him to see a towering behemoth with a red heart and a cross tattooed on its chest. The fiery wings seemed to suggest that this was no wealthy woman's pet.

Grabbing his rifle, he loaded a fresh magazine of explosive rounds; standard ammunition wasn't going to cut it with this overgrown lizard. He aimed with his finger on the trigger, but waited for the dragon to make its move. Maybe it hasn't seen him yet? Either way, he slowly distanced himself, there was no telling what this thing had under its claws.

“Another one?!” Eno cries, dodging bits of debris from the mighty heartless’ assault. “First Traverse Town had a dragon,” the giant vaults over a stall, a few seconds later a slab of rock crushes it, destroying the valuables inside. Thankfully the vendor had already high tailed it out, “now Notre Dame has one? My luck shouldn't be this horrible.”

While it held plenty of similarities to one he’d fought weeks ago, the darkness flowing off of it seemed to wrap around the ex-hand’s body like a vice. Its presence alone was enough to have him wanting to create at least some distance. In all his years in Hades’ service Eno has never seen a heartless quite like this one. A terrible monster to be sure.

But, unlike the first, there was no hooded child to fight the dragon for him. In fact, judging by the lack of response from the guards, they may not have the means to fight either. Even if they could, a terrible, fiery hell awaited them. It was almost as if it were taunting them into throwing their lives away in a fruitless struggle.

Eno, at first, didn’t want a single part of it, continuing to run from the initial entry point. However, his eyes would happen to glance upon a single woman who stood out among the small groups of people fleeing for their lives. One who appeared to be dead set on fighting the heartless, at least that’s what the tall guy assumes, judging by her spinning those chained weights until they’d hit a blur of motion.

What even are those things? The spirit had never seen anything quite like it.

Well, it’s to be expected, for there to be other tourists like himself, those who travel between worlds in hopes of finding something new and exciting. They’d each have their own stories, and in turn items. Not even the undead man, having existed for as long as he did, has seen it all.

But, whatever the circumstances, at least she’s looking to help unlike many others. That in turn was more than enough to inspire him to join her.

Eno approaches her from the side, keeping a wary eye on that odd weapon. As he drew near, he’d focus his own spiritual power into his left hand. The veteran wouldn’t dare draw his weapon, lest she believe he’d be after her rather than the beast. When he was no more than a few feet his hand would erupt into a blaze of white ethereal flames.

“Well what do ya know, someone’s taking initiative,” while he meant to come off as friendly, his monotone voice might leave another impression, “please stop spinning that for a moment, I’ve got a little something for it.”

To show that he meant no ill will towards her, he’d grab hold of his glaive with the same hand, the blade seemingly absorbing his spirit. Within a moment the blade would reflect his hand in appearance, the life force giving it a small boost and fiery appearance.

“That hide will be hard to get through, so I’m offering you a temporary boost. I can’t say you’ll kill it quickly, but if you want to be sure your strikes have impact use it.” Eno would try to explain further, only to be cut off by another powerful roar much closer than the previous one. It’s then, among the falling debris and chaos, he sees a behemoth of a creature, staring down a nearby path.

“Hurry, while we have the chance, I don’t think it’s seen us yet.” He’d try to keep his voice low.

Spoiler:
rd Skill: Soul Transferal: If Eno touches a weapon or piece of equipment he can transfer his life-force into it, giving it the ability to use the power stored. For weapons it’s implied that they’re now able to incorporate Eno’s spirit into their basic attacks. As for armor and shields, that same spirit can help buffer the equipment, giving it that added boost to defense. The amount of power given is in direct correlation to Eno's tier. While at tier one the benefit is minimal, but as he grows in power, so does the benefits.

Watching the city burn gave the Heartless a rush of primal glee. The destruction and consumption of the worlds was, of course, the prime objective of their kind, and seeing the structures these denizens of light built crumble before its might only continued to fuel a hunger in it. Why should only one world burn, when all of them could turn to blackened ash? The fire it had cast on the wooden buildings was slowly but surely consuming the town. While the local populace fled, some did their best to put out the inferno devouring their home. A meaningless effort, to be sure -- the Hellfire would only ignite the doused structures once again, just for the pleasure.

It heard the sound of the woman creature's weapon hitting the ground, its ears (while small,) picking up the noise over the roar of fire and the screams of terror from its victims. Neither the female nor her male counterpart beside her seemed the least bit afraid of it...The Hellfire had yet to spot Zulu, which was fortunate for him -- now, it was angry.
How DARE they not run at the mere sight of him?! They would challenge his power, his might, his flames?! Then they would all burn.

With a screech that rattled every window in the cathedral, the Hellfire gathered up its strength, regurgitating a foul, black liquid from its stomach. Eyes burning with malice, the creature spewed forth its bile, aiming deliberately at both Unknown and Eno. If they would not flee, if they would not fall to Darkness...then they would simply be roasted alive.

Choose Darkness...or Fire...
Submit or you will burn.

Hellfire has cast "Oily Breath".

The nameless one merely glanced at the presence of this man who had come to her side. She had no time for pleasantries. She was not one for making friendships -- allies to her were merely a temporary ends to her means -- but that didn't mean she was rude to those who approached.

He requested she stop putting force into her Judge's Scales, and with a piqued curiosity, the Nobody complied, jamming her elbow hard to the side and causing the metal weight to come to almost a complete stop. She nodded to him, curtly, and offered the weapon to him carefully.

"It seems to be quite the formidable beast," she stated, glancing up at the monster. "Any boost, and any ally, would be welcome in this situation. Let us disable this creature, before it does any more har--"

Just as she was about to complete her thoughts, the Heartless attacked them, obviously spotting them before they'd had a chance to accomplish anything. Cursing in her head, the Nobody quickly formulated a means to evade this tar-like ooze, conjuring up three vector plates out of the energy of Nothingness. Three arrows were writ upon their face: → → →

The nameless one sped into action, grasping at her newest allies' sleeve and pulling him less-than-gently over to one of the plates.
"Come!"

There appeared to be others who aimed to stop the beast as well, though he couldn't see them from where he was, although the dragon gave him an idea where to look. Taking full advantage of the dragon's inattentiveness to him, he scampered off a bit closer to the beast while prepping a charge in his hand, keeping his guard up in case his tail swung his way. A few seconds should be do, he thought to himself.

Getting close enough, he threw the charge, aiming directly between the wings and backed off, keeping low. The charge was set to detonate three seconds after it latched on to a surface. Hopefully the dragon didn't move till then, but he was sure to be noticed after that. Taking that into account, he took one of his kunias and marked it. If things turned out badly, he could always flash away. Far away. There's no fighting a dragon that large, at least not until it was weathered down.

Gotta tie him down soon... I don't think the town's gonna last long in this inferno. He readied a few cables, and hoped they didn't snap so easily.

Taking hold of the weapon, Eno watches as the ethereal flames transfer from his hand, down the chain of her weapon. He couldn’t watch the fire snake along it for long. Unknown’s speech would be cut short, prompting the ex-commander to look back to the target. The first thing he took notice of, would be the black oily gunk blocking their view of that horrible heartless.

The nobody reaches over, and grabs hold of his chestplate. Half-dragging the giant to a nearby set of metal plates she’d brought into existence. Not taking the time to wonder how they work, he trusts in the mysterious woman’s judgement, following her. As soon as she steps on them, he’d be right behind her in action, the two warping to the second, and then the third.

By the time their action is completed, the two would be a good distance away from where they once stood, the danger of the oil being mostly avoided. Within the split second between the warp, some of the oil managed to cover Eno’s trenchoat, covering it in the inky substance. The steam rising from the oil would prompt him to remove his plate and chainmail jacket as soon as possible, tossing it to the side.

There’s no way he’d risk catching himself aflame while being covered in that. He’d be burned into a crisp in seconds. Speaking of which, with the immediate danger being over, Eno would take this time to allow the feeling of this moment to consume him, prompting the very particles making up his physical body to harden. That dragon would be a major foe, and Eno has to be able to act in kind.

The raging inferno would further cement that need to succeed. The various homes, shops, historical sites, this monster would destroy it all, leaving many homeless. While it may be in its nature, the end result is unforgivable. If he couldn’t make this dragon beg, he’d take everything from it.

And he knew just where to begin…

“Thanks for the save,” Eno says, keeping his eyes on the dragon. He takes particular note of the webbing making up the wings. If he could fly up there, his weapon might be powerful enough to cripple it, keeping it grounded. If any guards happened to be around, they could join in on the action too. A means to swarm it.

“Alright, I say we go for the wings,” he keeps his voice low while glancing over, seeing that she did manage to receive his gift, “if you could distract it, I can fly up there and make em useless.”

It’s then he’s able to take notice of a small black pack sailing through the air, landing on the beast. Not wanting to say another word, he takes off down the side, motioning for Unknown to follow. Whatever it was, might catch the heartless’ attention. If they were gonna act, now would be a good time. If she decided to come along, they’d have moved far enough to the right to avoid the dragon’s immediate attention.

Using his spirit as a means to an end, a small orb of white would surround Eno as he lifted off into the air. The glow a small variation to the raging fire around them. Hopefully the dragon will be distracted with the object, allowing Eno to follow up immediately. If not, he could simply fly behind a building for cover. Some of these buildings are strong enough to withstand some of the punishment. Should something happen to give Eno precious seconds, he would go for the left wing of the heartless in an attempt to cripple it.

Spoiler:
Ability Name: Indomitable Will
Ability Type: Defensive/Support
Ability Cost: 25MP
Ability Cooldown: none
Ability Element: Moon
Ability Description: Using moon to enhance the properties of his soul, Eno gains stacks of Indomitable Will for each post regardless of who is posting. For each stack gained, Eno’s endurance rises. At one to three stacks the gain is minor, at four to six stacks the increase is moderate, at seven to nine stacks the buff becomes high and continues to massive levels once it hits ten to twelve stacks. Any more stacks past that point becomes enormous enough to raise him an entire tier. However, if it gets to that point, no matter how many stacks he gets, his endurance cannot rise past a tier beyond that.

However, should Eno’s endurance ever hit tier four, be it natural or otherwise, he must gain twenty five stacks in order to hit tier five endurance. If he’s at tier five endurance, the stacks can stack indetnitely to allow him massive amounts of defense, major resistances to negative status effects, and above all skin thick enough to repel even the strongest of blades, spells or projectiles. Regardless, it’s impossible for this ability to let Eno hit any tier higher than five.

2nd Skill: Spiritual Flight: By projecting his spirit around him in an invisible dome, he’s capable of flight, propelling himself around speeds of ten to fifty miles an hour. There are atmospheric limits however, the higher he goes, the harder it becomes for him to breathe. This same skill also allows him to hover anywhere between one to a few feet above the ground. Once activated, the initial propulsion can vary at the exact same speed in which he’s capable of flying.

[Judge's Scales Boost: 6 Posts Remainng]
[Soul Transferal: 8 Posts Remaining]

The Hellfire snarled viciously, seeing that its prey had eluded its oily breath. However, it seemed there was more than just the two targets before it -- the Heartless had not noticed Zulu until the Shock Charge hit between its wings and its torso. By that time, it was much too late for the beast...but the charge would be far from the kind of damage to finish it off...

It spotted Eno's flight off to one of its sides. The female had used some sort of mechanism to help she and the revived one evade its breath, but the air was its domain. The male was foolish to dare and attempt to take him here, in the sky...it was no place for humans, no matter their strength.
Taking up into the sky, the creature screamed again, part in fury, and partially to instill more fear into the helpless mortals below it, the cry echoing for miles around as it took to the air.

Beating its wings, it began to summon fire in a massive circle around it, covering an area of an impressive range, hoping to char its foes in an inferno that matched the very ferocity of hell itself.

1st Ring of Hell
[CD: 2 posts]
Hellfire casts a ring of flames around itself (50 feet) burning everything in its range for heavy damage. Gives 1 stack of "Inferno" to targets damaged by this ability. "Inferno" allows the next ability with "Ring" in the title to deal additional damage over time, in the form of the status: Ignite.

((LOL crap, and I just used my getaway skill too.))

The nameless Nobody could feel a surge of power through her scales, now infused with the might of her new ally. From the top of the building, she spied another potential comrade, though he seemed to be taking advantage of the beast's neglect towards him. An unwise decision on the monster's part -- for even those that seemed the weakest could be the potential for your undoing -- the heartless shell took no chances on that herself, but this Heartless was not as knowledgeable as she, it seemed. Its fuels seemed only to be composed of strife and rage, both of which seemed rife at the moment.

She paused a moment, heeding the young man's words, contemplating what her next move should be. She knew nothing of this beast or its capabilities, making it difficult to plan out her assault. Going in head first was not traditionally her way, but it seemed that time was of the essence. The longer they waited to act, the more damage would be caused to the world and its inhabitants. That would not do.
With no other option but to go her own path towards the terrible monster, the Nobody began using her scales to latch onto different statues, hoisting herself up with a surprising amount of speed. However, she was nearly halfway up one of the sides, when she noticed the temperature was beginning to climb. Looking around wildly to see if she'd been spotted by the vicious creature, the denizen of the void saw nothing, at first...until she looked at her seven o' clock, and realized it was preparing for an attack of its own.

Too high in the air to climb down, too far from the edge of the building to seek refuge at its top, the nameless woman did the only thing she could think to at so arduous a time -- she winced at the idea of destroying something so beautiful and sacred, but all would be reduced to ash if she remained here. With a grunt, the Unknown launched herself off the side of the cathedral she'd been scaling, swinging with all her might through one of the glass windows. As the Judge's Scales unhitched from the neck of a gargoyle, the female tumbled through the broken glass, landing with an exceptional lack of grace into some of the pews, crunching them underneath her sudden and unexpected forced entry.
Unknown winced. She knew she'd taken a substantial amount of hurt from that rash decision, but sitting and waiting to get cooked by the flames was foolish. She was quite sure this foe, powerful as it was, would've dished out more to her than a few aching areas and minor cuts.

Shadow Bolt Charges: 3 (+1 this post)

Zulu was grinning happily under his helmet. The charge did its job, but the beast still had to be weathered down even more. He thought about going all in, throwing the marked kunai at it so he could blink closer to the dragon than the default distance it allowed. Once he got there, he would have latched on with his cables to keep himself from being thrown off. Yeah, that was a good plan, and once he had gotten stable, he'd have all the time to merrily stab the beast as much as he liked.

As great as that sounded in his head, he was relieved he didn't get the time to act upon it before the dragon took to the skies, well beyond the range he could throw the dagger. He raised his gun and shot a volley at the lizard. Most if not all of his shots missed. Moving targets were one thing; all he had to account for was their distance and speed, altitude was only a slight nudge away to be compensated for, but flying targets, now that was a hell (heh) of a lot harder to shoot at. Not only does the altitude account for a bigger part of the equation, but he had to deal with gravity making his shots lose velocity faster, thus shortening his range.

He kept his eye on the dragon. The last thing he wanted to happen to himself was lose sight of it. As it continued to rise, he finally saw one of the people who distracted the dragon enough for him to effectively use the shock charge, or at least he thought it was one of them. It was an orb of white flames streaking through the sky. A short while later, he saw a woman grappling through the air, latching on to the building to pull herself up. However she suddenly diverted her positioning, choosing to crash into the building through a window, and when he looked up, he saw why. If he had gone through with that plan of latching on to the beast, he would have been fried in seconds.

Not wanting to waste a charge on his escape, he ran towards where the dragon once stood and shot at the crumbling roof to enlarge the hole made by its talons before jumping in to avoid becoming fried chicken. He landed with a heavy, resounding thud of metal. Crouching to make the landing more bearable, he quickly rolled out of the way in case the inferno made its way through the hole he made. And it did, setting ablaze a few of the wooden church seats nearby. Aside from the uncomfortable heat, Zulu was doing fine.

Remembering the female who crashed through there, he quickly scanned the area, running towards where a few of the pews lay broken with the girl in question ungracefully sprawled out in front of it. "Still alive?" he asked the girl while stretching out his hand towards her in assistance. There was no way she would have landed that way and not be aching in several places.

Whatever charge was placed, didn’t seem to hold its attention for long, instead it felt that the giant held its priority. With a beat of its mighty wings it unlatched from the cathedral and took to the skies.

“Shit,” Eno’s eyes widened as the dragon approached. Naturally, the ex-commander has to let his common sense dictate his next action, well, some of the action. Flying into the air against a large heartless wasn’t a very good use of it, but that isn’t important now. As it drew near, Eno starts to descend while moving back, gaining some distance. He would have to take this time to try something else. Though, he could take solace in the fact that at least it wasn’t focused on the city anymore.

The first tactic didn’t do anything to help, instead making him a nice morsel for the beast to enjoy. He couldn’t assume the beast held little intelligence, and thus could be easily distracted. Just because it’s a heartless doesn’t mean it can’t think. As he tries to find a means to do some damage, the creature hovers, flapping its wings at a faster rate.

It could have attacked the ex-hand head on, but instead it’s doing this? A very peculiar move on its part, then again seeing a dragon, a heartless one at that, is even more so. There was a point to this however, with each beat of its wings the heat began to rise, sweat forms upon Eno’s brow as a result. It’s then he sees the initial spark of flames come to life. Within a second the raging inferno would engulf his vision.

He would be right outside the ring, the sight of those scorching flames giving the giant pause. This heat, drying out his skin and turning it into a pink tint, he’d felt such intensity before…

“You, you’re gonna throw your body at Hercules and keep him off Mt. Olympus for as long as you can.” Eno’s vision of the battlefield would melt, coalescing with the dragon’s attack, revealing a dark, empty, cavernous area. So many months ago, Eno found himself lying on his back, at the mercy of the one pulling his strings. Skin, blue and lifeless, icy, fiery locks, and who could forget those crazy yellow eyes sitting in the back of his skull.

Envisioning the dark god was enough to send the ex-servant into a fit of shivering. It was as though he held no control over his body. The would-be hero can’t even feel the flames as they start creeping up the sleeve of his coat, searing the flesh underneath. All the while, he can feel something welling inside him, building up, reaching its crescendo as the scene plays out in his mind.

Fear. Pure, powerful, fear.

“But, before you do that, you’re going to burn,” it’s then Hades raises his hands, and the agonizing heat comes on full force. With the scene rapidly coming back into vision, Eno looks to his arms, now roasting from the attack he never tried to move further from. It’s as they’re snaking around, covering his body, he starts to scream.

The burning, it's too much. How could he just stand there and let this happen?! What stopped him? Did that vision of his past really hold that much power over him? Either way, he had no time to think about anything so trivial. He’s been set aflame, and what precious seconds he has are quickly running out. Going as fast as his spirit would allow he shoots towards a nearby rooftop, his coat now completely ablaze.

It’s a labor, forcefully removing melting, metal buckles and boots, this torturous feeling also hampers his progress, however, he still manages to remove them all during flight. The resulting wind, while spreading the fire, would also keep them from reaching the clothing he wore underneath, at least for the most part. Eno doesn’t even bother bracing for impact as he hit the roof stomach first, rolling across it to try and put out any residual flames. And, while he can’t see it, he can certainly feel it.

His regenerative properties could do little to mask the extreme amounts of discomfort, but they could at least help repair the damage done. Any small burns have already started healing, unfortunately for him, there is more damage done than what he first thought, and standing back up after that is significantly harder to do. He definitely banged up his body in the drop. That, along with the lengthy time it takes for more significant burns, the battle might be over before his damage is undone.

Spoiler:
5th Skill: Spiritual Regeneration Level One: With his spirit having Eno’s physical appearance embedded within, damage will automatically begin to be healed. While smaller wounds will take two to five posts to heal, larger ones may take up to fifteen posts to repair.  Life threatening damage, and loss of limb however, cannot be undone at the level it is at right now.

The beast screeched angrily. It had not considered the drawbacks to its newest nesting location. It seemed to be not only a place of security for itself, but that of its prey, too. The only one it seemed to have caught in its fiery grip was the flying human who'd been foolish enough to endure its inferno. Strangely enough, he seemed to have some means of better struggling against the pain...perhaps he'd have some form of experience.

It would have to rid itself of this pesky error in judgment; this chapel would burn, too. There would be ample resting places and nesting grounds to build itself when all had been reduced to rubble. There would be no refuge from its flames, not even in such an attractive roost. These humans would learn firsthand what it meant to fight a truly powerful Heartless...though, they would not live to tell the tale. Defiance was the equivalent of death. Damnation would be the only thing these pathetic specimen of living beings would know after this battle.

With a furious scream, the Hellfire spiraled into the air, and very suddenly, came crashing back down onto the roof of the beautiful cathedral. With a powerful wave of weight and strength behind it, the Heartless drove its talons into the stone, rendering a very sizable hole within the ceiling of the holy shrine. Carved earth shattered beneath its might, raining down on the interior of the place, destroying the beauty of the interior with a single blow.
Churning its mighty wings again, setting them ablaze with flames the color of lusty crimson, the Hellfire burned yet again. From the tongues of its flames, bubbled rings of brilliant red fire, which curled forth, seeking out the three targets before their creator. There would be no escape from their eternal hell.

2nd Ring of Hell
[CD: 5 posts]
Hellfire casts a number of rings, one (1) for each enemy target on the field. These rings seek out their targets relentlessly, not halting until they have closed in and damaged them (for Medium damage), have been canceled out, or have been destroyed by Water, Storm, or Tide magic.
Gives 1 stack of "Inferno" to targets damaged by this ability. "Inferno" allows the next ability with "Ring" in the title to deal additional damage over time, in the form of the status: Ignite.

She was hurt, but not too badly. She took Zulu's hand, and gave a curt nod.
"Thank you. I'm well enough. Come."

I know this is painfully, hilariously, insultingly short, and it's going to impact my overall grade, but I'm running short on time here, and I'm trying to keep the Raid going without messing it up.

//It's alright, we understand you're busy.

Zulu pulled the girl to her feet, but there was no time for pleasantries as the beast once again attacked the place of worship. Didn't that bring back old memories... It was clearly frustrated at them now and fired another set of attacks. Flaming rings it seemed was what it was serving them this time around.

"HEY!" he shouted at the dragon as he threw his kunai at it. It was going to learn that those kinds of attacks are just going to bite it on that scaly little reptilian tail of his. The kunai glowed as it sliced through the air, pulling the flaming rings towards it instead of their intended targets. And guess what, those rings were being sent back to the owner. He took another kunai and marked it as well before grabbing the girl's hand and giving it to her.

"Throw it away from you if you want to divert its attacks, I'll do the rest if i see the signal. Otherwise, keep it with you," he quickly said before he reverted to battle mode and trained his rifle at the overgrown lizard and shot at it, strafing so he wouldn't be an easy target, because after what he pulled off, he was sure to be targeted first, and he knew his armor and self-reconstruction couldn't handle a steady stream of attacks from a beast like that, and his energy was getting low a little too quickly for his taste. This was going to be a problem...

Incredible, even after that attack the beast showed no signs of slowing down. The rooftop offered no reprieve for the burned man, as it held very little cover against its might. However, the heartless didn't pay him any mind at that moment, instead opting to fly high in to the air before suddenly driving all of its weight into the cathedral. Despite it being well put together, it didn't matter for the heavy creature, its body and claws making quick work of the upper portion.

All it seems to know is destruction, and there's no way that the giant can let this continue. He may not have a lot of power at his disposal, but there had to be something that could work against it. But, what could one man use against a dragon? Veara could take it on, he fought against the mighty creature in Traverse Town, without him though there might not be any who could perform well against it.

Eno didn't have the opportunity to think upon it further, as a few rings of flame separated themselves from the mass of fire surrounding the heartless. One of them started heading his way, but was quickly stopped by the actions of another. Even among the darkness and fiery area, even the giant could make out the glint of a small object being thrust towards the beast, the rings being pulled along with it.

Should the dragon try to avoid this, it would have to focus on it. You can't exactly take your eyes off of your own attack, lest you be made vulnerable to whatever results there may be. In spite of that, it's a fire attack going straight for a fire manipulating beast. Wouldn't a fire based attack be beneficial for it?

“Shit,” though his regeneration is still hard at work, the ex-hand would have to fight against the searing agony of his flesh and take to the skies again. He'd fly up, above the dragon, taking advantage of its attention being trained on the ruined building, and the bullets flying from within.

This heartless was a large creature, one that could potentially blot out the sun should it position itself in the right place. Why would it bother looking up if nothing would have the courage to attack it from there? While the idea sounds great in theory, performing the task was another matter entirely. Yet, here he is, above the dragon, as it's eyes are still down at the ruins.

From here, he can see the woman, along with another individual, one that's doing his best to do something to the creature. Eno would have to act in kind. Focusing the magic into his palm, the ex-servant creates an orb of wind. While Changeling fired, Eno launches his orb at the dragon's right wing, and he comes flying right behind it, both his glaive and steel longsword at the ready.

Gritting his teeth to block out the pain he picks up speed, the temporarily enchanted glaive and sword trained on the dragon's left wing. At the rate he was going both attacks would reach the heartless at about the same time, only a second or two separating one from the other. While Eno wasn't expecting the longsword to do much, he'd ride on the hope that his other weapon would perform its task. After all, a good portion of his strength has left him from that last inferno.

However, it's not like a thin sheet of flesh between thin bones could hope to stop his unforgiving blades. Should he manage to succeed he'd follow up by swinging his weapons as quickly as his body would allow. The giant has to do as much damage to those wings as possible, someone needs to keep this thing on the ground.

You're fine, Unknown. Your away status has been noted, though the length will slightly impact your final grade.

Pleased with itself and the progress it had made in dealing with these tiny mortals, the Hellfire let out a bellowing screech of pride. There was no avoiding the Second Rings, no matter the speed or power of the opponent. They were sure to burn in the hellish inferno that was its incredible might, and from the ashes of this world, the age of fire would spread through the worlds, and consume them one by one. When all was complete, there would be nothing left but the smoldering cinders of the time that had once been, the charred souls of its victims, and its brethren within the ranks of the Heartless race. All creatures of the Realm of Light would know it for their destruction.
No, it would be the Realm of Fire, once it was finished with this place. There would be no morsel left unscathed by its inferno. A realm where it, and it alone, ruled supremely and without conflict. But first...it would have to destroy these interlopers by--

The Hellfire hadn't considered the possibility that these humans could be so strong as to deflect, or redirect, any of its attacks. It hadn't been paying attention to its surroundings, let alone its own spells--after all, the Second Rings never missed--but now it seemed they never missed directly back at its caster. Being a creature of fire, the Heartless shrugged off its own flames, though not absorbing it for health due to its lackluster levels of power.
What the monster had not at all seen coming, was Eno Vale swooping in at an incredibly impressive speed. The sword clipped through the solid stone structure of the Hellfire's left wing, taking a very sizable chunk out of it, the force of the blow enough to send it teetering. The creature stumbled, stunned and confused as to the unexpected pain, wobbling precariously on the edge of the holy place.

Furiously, the beast searched for the point of its pain. Yes. Eno had managed to carve out a cinder-block sized hole in the top left section where its wings bent in a joint. It wasn't enough to keep the Hellfire grounded, but it would certainly make going up into the air a very pestering event. No, it would take at least a few more hits to cripple the monster for good, and now that it had been injured, the Heartless was going to ensure it didn't happen again.

With an angry snarl, the being of fire lunged at Vale now, snapping its beak at him, viciously trying to retaliate for the damage done to it. As it was forged of fire and stone, the Hellfire couldn't bleed...but it could certainly feel pain, and it had not liked what the soldier had done to it. Whirling around at the other two, the Heartless screamed again, this time blowing a plume of flames directly into the belly of the cathedral, through the hole it had made before.

((Eh...screw it. I'm axing this one after the raid is completed, so there's no sense in stressing hard over replies, considering any reward she gets out of this won't matter. My not trying won't effect your scores. I genuinely dislike posting short things, as I feel it's insulting to the other people I'm writing with, but this girl has the personality of a brick. I don't know what I was thinking when I wrote her up.))

Unknown took the kunai from the man in the strange mask, tucking it into her belt. He'd mentioned it would help divert its attacks, and she guessed that it would happen in the same manner that he'd just demonstrated.

Just as they'd begun to recover, the Heartless had breathed a stream of fire at them. Like the man had instructed, the Nobody took the weapon from her person, and threw it as hard as she was able, watching it spiral off in the other direction. She then focused her energy and casted a spell at the monster, sending a single vector out into the void.
Unknown knew she had to get out of the flames quickly, and she put out her hand to the man, summoning her vectors behind her. Like tentacles, the arrows wriggled and squirmed, two of them digging hard into one of the support pillars.

"Better to hit it close. Come. I'll take you to the top."

Zulu felt the shock wave of the strike from the third combatant, and it definitely put some hurt on the dragon. Things were getting intense now, but a smile crept to his face behind the mask. Seeing something so big getting so beat up, but it was too early to celebrate. Zulu shot the last few rounds of his magazine into the beast and reloaded without moving the gun away from the dragon. Before he could shoot again, the beast whirled about and breathed a wall of fire towards the girl and himself.

He saw the dagger he gave the girl soar through the air, and Zulu felt a sinking feeling in he stomach. The mark only worked on projectiles, and a large stream of flame was no projectile, or at least he thought it wasn't. All the same he activated the mark and hoped it worked, or at the very least, slow the flames down.

The girl held out her hand and told him she could get them up close and personal, summoning something behind her. "Alright, go!" His hand left the underside of his barrel and grabbed hold of the woman's outstretched hand. The fire was coming fast, and he wasn't too confident on how they were going to escape, so he activated a spell, marking the woman with a dark overlay that was invisible for the time being. Should they take any damage from the flames, at least the shield that the woman received would have negated her portion.

Re: ◙ RAID ◙ Confiteor Deo

Post by Eno Vale on Tue May 19, 2015 12:10 pm

((I apologize for the lengthy amount of time this took. It shouldn't happen again.))

The attack was meant to disable, not kill. Eno knew that going into this. But, when that dragon unleashed his roar of pain and anger, a very chilling sensation travels down the ex-hand's spine. Bearing the painful torture that are his burns, Eno incorporates his flying ability into his pushing, launching himself off of the wing as the heartless beast comes in for a counter attack. It's lunging all but useless in the face of distance.

However, he only had enough time to take his glaive with him, leaving his longsword to be smashed into tiny shards by the powerful heartless' might.

In spite of the loss, the damage has been done, and so long as it stays grounded Eno's the one who has the skies. Not only that, but he has another advantage, one shared with he duo in the cathedral: numbers. So long as they fought together like this, that fire beast wouldn't be able to multi-task properly. If all three were together that would be one thing, but that isn't the case.

So long as they can juggle its attention they should come out on top, especially with its wing being damaged as it is. It'd be hard pressed to get above all of them to attack, and speaking of which, the beast has made yet another error. It put its attention back to the duo in the cathedral. Eno was still right above it too, it had to have seen him fly, why take your eyes off of him again?

Perhaps it's time Eno made it realize just what it was ignoring. With his body having buffed itself to the point where the hellfire's attacks would have less of an impact, and with the regeneration working in tandem with it, the once undead servant kicks it up a notch. He may lack the strength the other two might have, but in that place his body could take a mean punch.

As he starts to focus, he can feel the veins under his skin expanding to compensate for the quickening flow of his blood. With a mighty pulse of energy, Eno's body becomes engulfed in white flames. His already hardy body becoming further reinforced by this boost. His intention: directing each and every single portion of his power to keep that creature grounded for good.

He adjusts his grip near the back of his weapon, lifts it above his head, and dives. His sights are set on the already damaged wing. Though, instead of the wing itself, his target has become the joint connecting the wing to the main body. If he could cause enough harm, there may be a chance of permanently crippling this thing. He'd sever bone much like an executioner would use his axe to sever the head of a man sentenced to death.

((Since my skill tree has changed, I'll put the skill tree that was used for this raid in the following spoiler))

[Indomitable Will: 12 Stacks]
[Glaive Boost: 2 posts remaining]
[Judge's Scales Boost: 3 posts remaining]
[Spiritual Overdrive: Ten Posts]
[White-Hot Aura: Ten Posts]

Spoiler:
Tier One
1st Skill: Spirit Overdrive First Release: Eno stands in place for a post, focusing on the spiritual energy within. In doing this he unlocks the natural binds that keep his soul safely locked away, forcing it up to the surface. Once this skill is utilized, Eno's endurance receive a moderate increase. The initial burst of energy released, is enough to knock back any within three meters, giving Eno a moment of respite should he be in the process of being overwhelmed.

Once in use, Eno becomes surrounded in a white-tinted aura, giving him the appearance of being trapped within a fire-like dome.

(Effect Duration: Ten Posts)
(Cooldown: Fifteen posts.)

3rd Skill: Soul Transferal: If Eno touches a weapon or piece of equipment he can transfer his life-force into it, giving it the ability to use the power stored.

(Effect Duration: Six Posts.)
(Cooldown: Eight posts)

4th Skill: White-Hot Aura Level One: Only active while Spirit Overdrive is in use. Four meters around Eno deals moon damage over time. Whenever someone comes that close to Eno, the damage done is equivalent to a tier one 15MP offensive spell. Those that wield moon, however, can resist the aura's damage for three posts upon initial contact. Should they remain in combat with Eno past that point, they will take the same amount of damage as one without moon as an affinity.

(Effect Duration: Ten Posts )
(Cooldown: Fifteen Posts)

5th Skill: Spiritual Regeneration Level One(Regen): With his spirit having Eno’s physical appearance embedded within, damage will automatically begin to be healed. While smaller wounds will take two to five posts to heal, larger ones may take up to fifteen posts to repair.  Life threatening damage, and loss of limb however, cannot be undone at the level it is at right now..

With a vicious snarl, the Hellfire conveyed its annoyance at missing its target once again. The flying object whizzed past its head, but did no damage. What flames did lick the base of the female, seemed to deal pain back to the Heartless, the monster reeling in puzzled confusion as they escaped the interior of the burning cathedral. This had been the second time the masked one had brought its own damage back to it, and the beast was not pleased.

Although Zulu's Pidgeon hadn't done anything but spiral off past the creature's head, as it watched the object whirl into oblivion, its path alerted the beast to Vale's quickly closing position towards its already wounded wing. Furiously, the Hellfire screamed, whirling around to face the undead servant with all of its might, ignoring the two others whom had done little to harm it. Injure it once, and you were fortunate. Injure it twice...
Well, you didn't injure it twice.

Using its tail to cover the other humans who were on their way up the pillar's side, and would surely be at the top to ambush it, the Heartless turned its full attention back to Eno Vale. Once again, its wings churned in a fiery blaze, turning up the heat around itself dramatically as it recast its flaming inferno. However, on top of this, the creature layered another attack on top of it, focusing its power to the heavens themselves, willing its incredible power to smite these mortal beings. Fire and flames shot up around the Hellfire in a protective wall, once more in an attempt to fry its victims. Meanwhile, large chunks of meteors began to rain down from the skies, slow but powerful, causing sizable craters as they landed in collateral damage around the place. Buildings crumbled with the powerful combination of fire and stone. The streets suddenly had great, gaping holes, preventing some from escape via carriage or horseback. The panicked people below went into a frenzied state of fear.

If Vale managed to get through that layer, the Heartless calculated to itself, it would be ready to defend itself. It could not afford to lose its ability of flight...especially not to weak, foolish mortals.

Though the masked man had taken her hand, Unknown found it difficult to lift him. She was not known for her strength, but despite her struggles, the Nobody gripped his hand tightly, commanding her vectors to dig into stone like grappling hooks. Their ascent, however, was not particularly speedy, and the flames did managed to catch up to them. Despite this...they did nothing to her. Some manner of shielding had managed to protect her from the inferno, though how or where it'd come from, she couldn't tell.

As they reached the top of the cathedral, the nameless woman was caught completely off guard by the sudden appearance of the Hellfire's tail. She was not, however, entirely outmatched in time and intelligence--with a grunt of effort, she hurled Zulu over the arcing path of the tail and took the hit for herself. The sheer brute force of stone hitting her torso was enough to send her flying, knocking the wind out of her and sending her skipping across the roof like a flat stone on water. Dazed and straining for breath, she could still tell that the Hellfire was preparing another attack, strikingly similar to that which it had done before, if not the same. If the latter were the case, there was no getting to the safety zone near the creature in time; perhaps the man she'd tossed would be able to do so, but she was still recovering from her involuntary barrel roll across the roof.
Adjusting to her shifting vision, Unknown could see that Vale was about to get the brunt of the attack, too. She could see by looking at him, that he was already injured, and had somehow managed to deal quite a punch to the monster, too. He was clearly the tankiest of their rag-tag team, able to cleave through the stone with much better ease than she would with her scales. Perhaps she was not as strong as most others, but the Nobody possessed a keen intellect sharp enough to cut through any obstacle--and this was no acceptation.

She may not be able to remove herself from the line of fire, but she certainly could position Eno for a better angle. The woman shut her eyes, going into her secondary mode of vision. Millions and billions of lines and arrows--vectors--revealed themselves to her, showing locations and positions with pinpoint accuracy. With lightning speed, she calculated the best route to take Vale to where she desired, and tapped into the void, calling forth a panel below his current position.
For her second move, Unknown called upon the power of her vectors once more, summoning ten to hone in on the area where the Hellfire stood. However, instead of using them for offensive purposes, the Nobody placed the second panel underneath the attack, switching their position with the undead one. This would spawn him directly over the Hellfire, out of the path of its terrible ring, although she had not accounted for the meteors that had appeared soon after.

The nameless one braced herself for fire and stone, but nothing could have prepared her for the pain. The fire seared at her skin, akin to being in a personalized hell all of her own, while the flaming rock crashed into her back, throwing her through the roof  and making another large hole in it. The great chunk of earth slammed her into the floor of the holy shrine once again, this time caught ablaze in a painful, constant burning. ...She would have rather gone through the window again.

During their ascent, the flames had caught on the Changeling and caused his lower body to glow red as the metal heated up rapidly. To avoid the overflow of painful signals, he shut off the sensors in the affected area, but the damage had been done. Layers of Nano fell off his body as molten metal and chips, giving him a look that resembled flesh that was caught in thermite. But at least the damage he suffered protected the woman from the flames, however when they reached the roof, he was suddenly thrown into the air, and the woman suddenly vanished from sight, mauled by an earthen tail and ragdolling across the roof. Damn, it seemed the shield was depleted, gnawed away by the flames as they ascended.

But as the dragon's movements made apparent, Zulu and this party of strangers who didn't even know each other's names were about to be caught in an inferno. He could choose to waste the charges he built up to escape unscathed, but he'd also be wasting an opportunity to get back at this beast for melting the 'skin' of his legs. It was time to brave hell! Strapping a shock charge to his chest, he set a timer and set the coordinates for a short-ranged jump. Two more kunais appeared in his hands with cables attached to a small port in his wrists. In the blink of an eye he turned into pure shadow and reappeared in a puff of smoke in front of the dragon. Specifically, crouched down in it's nose, both hands in the air gripping the daggers above his head. This of course placed him in a very bad situation health-wise as his entire body was literally on fire. The sensors went crazy, overloading his systems with pain. But he only used that as an extra driving force as he brought his daggers down onto the beast's eyes. Once the daggers were embedded, they would retract claws that ran down the edge of the blades to make sure they stayed where they entered. Zulu couldn't feel any sense of impact as his sensors were currently overloaded, but he was confident he left very little time for the beast to react, especially when it was highly unlikely for it to foresee the attack.

A short while later, the Shock Charge activated, sending a strong jolt of electricity throughout his body, giving him a badly needed power surge to get his Reconstruction a boost in repairing some of the damage his hell dive tactic got him. Of course, it'd be rude if he didn't share. He let half of the electric charge travel out from his body, through the cables and into the nodes that were his kunais, which would give the dragon a little serving of extra pain, if indeed he managed to stab the daggers in its eyes, or anywhere on it at least.

Just as suddenly as he appeared, he disappeared from where he was. Two puffs of smoke appeared in the sky, indicating the maximum range of his jumps, which was enough to clear the range of the inferno when chained together. Zulu reappeared in the bell tower, looking as crisp as one would expect. Most of his body was red hot, and some parts even melted off, most notably half of his face, revealing a plate of metal fashioned into an almost featureless skull. Peeved at the damage he received, he detached the melted faceplate, revealing the rest of the skull and some of the mechanisms underneath like the scopes for his eyes. The damage he suffered though would be well worth it. The woman should get a thick shell of darkness around her form to protect her from further damage, and hopefully that banzai move gave the dragon a clear message. The cable was still attached to the Changeling, and he'd make good use of it later if they stuck with the dragon.

Because I'm lazy, I'll just link to the character directory: Zulu

Note, the mention of boosting Reconstruction is only there to rationalize his healing when hit with electricity.

Re: ◙ RAID ◙ Confiteor Deo

Post by Eno Vale on Wed May 27, 2015 7:11 am

Eno is closing in fast, and at first he believes he could potentially punish it in a similar fashion. However, upon it wheeling around to face him, the giant realized his mistake. Some object, one that flew past the dragon's face, alerted it to his presence. What element of surprise he had vanished in a cloud of smoke.

As its wings began to beat again, Eno couldn't help but feel that a very familiar attack might rear its ugly head, and as the initial sparks appear, that paranoid assumption was only cemented. It's then those awful scenes start to play out in his mind yet again, trying so hard to take hold of his consciousness. An event he couldn't seem to shake from his mind no matter how hard he tried. Fear, strong enough to leave its presence in his breast, seemingly weighed the large one down, mixing hesitation into his actions.

It didn't matter how many times he repeated in his mind that he was free and clear of that dreaded god, he just couldn't get his memories to leave him in peace. That in turn only drove the burning dagger of rage deeper, piercing the fear at its very core. While it wasn't enough to disperse it, the emotion being used to cope, proved adequate. Tightening the grip on his glaive, Eno prepared himself for the worst of it....

That is until his perception warped, and his stomach was given the same sensation as it did when he first met that woman in the crowded streets. Suddenly, Eno found himself above the beast in a different position, nearly throwing him off entirely, but also giving him the means to free his damaged body of the unforgiving flames that now surround the beast. Finally an opening, one that put him behind the dragon's vision.

A quick readjustment of his hands would instead bring Eno in for a stab rather than the slash he was previously opting to go with. With this opening he'd have to deal some real damage rather than gamble. Wherever that woman was, she gave him a means to hopefully bring this heartless down. As the meters become feet, the giant couldn't help but notice that the third he glanced over in the damaged cathedral has joined him in taking this thing head on. It was enough to bring a smile to his lips, despite the terror, and hunger, starting to overwhelm the rage.

Despite its obvious intimidating form, the man poised to strike couldn't keep the resemblances to a certain type of foul at bay, only strengthening his hunger. Maybe the corpse will be around long enough to be eaten? Maybe his aura might be strong enough to cook it while the glaive could act as a stick to hold its corpse over the flame. A silly thought to help drive away the tormenting memories.

Either way, with the back of the heartless' head becoming the new target, Eno couldn't wait to bury his spirit imbued weapon into it.

“I'll eat you, like the over-sized chicken you are. Now get in my belly.” He growls, his voice only loud enough for him to hear over the scorching flames.
