Warm Breeze [Open]

Post by Fade on Fri Apr 24, 2015 9:09 am

Mifune sat in his office, he was currently scribbling down his signature on numerous papers, while also occasionally writing veto on stuff, the boredom soon caused him to stop and sigh. His hair seemed to have trimmed up a bit, though it was still  long for a teenagers. He looked more professional. "I really need to be getting out more, all this work is cramping my style... I thought governing a peaceful world would be easy." Mifune spoke outloud, as he had intended for the message to be conveyed to himself in specific. He would look up from his paperwork as a man, Goliath in size chuckled outwards. A man by the name of Ajax, he worked was a hunter on the islands and had a deep voice, accented by an Australian touch.

Ajax would crack his knuckles, before taking a seat in the room. As of lately the islander would drop in more often; truth be told, he had previously been envious of Mifu's position. However, after a long talk he began to appreciate the Chief. "Don't worry about it kid, every job has it's hard fronts. Your's just comes with a fancy title. I'm sure it'll be done soon."" The man shrugged, and Mifune nodded as he stood up.

"Yeah, well. I'm gonna take a walk through town. What were you wanting Ajax?" The Goliath sized hunter stood up. "Nothing now, I came to get you out of the office. It's time for your training after all, can't let yourself slip Chief." Mifune held up his hand and sighed. "Yeah but your training is too extreme..." The man scoffed. "Oh? Might i remind you how fast you've gotten through my mentor-ship?"

Mifune and Ajax argued for a few minutes, but winning an argument with Ajax was pretty useless. The man had a way of getting his message across... So making their way through the town, both stopped at the beach. Chatting for a few moments, before getting ready to start their trials. Mifune would turn his head however as a third individual caught his eye. Though he remained silent unless the person wanted to address him.

The sun loomed above the golden sands and emerald branches, the soaked granules and the dew on the leaves glistening as the light enveloped them. The sounds of the gentle waves washing over the shoreline of the beach was calming, soothing, enchanting to the elf's large, sensitive ears.

Although the atmosphere was relaxing for Vocil, its entirety was overwhelming for him—nothing was anything similar to what he was used to seeing on Lathander. His emerald eyes glanced and scanned at the surroundings around him, taking in what he saw and trying to compare it to something, anything in Queldorah that he could recognize, but nothing; the sky was lighter than what he was used to, shapes and colors of the trees were brighter and more dull than what was around his elven home, and the ground was loose sand and gravel in some places as opposed to the marble floors and dirt paths of Queldorah.

A gentle sigh escaped the elf's thin lips as his arms slacked by their sides. He knew that venturing out into the World was to be a big step forward but he didn't think it would feel like he jumped into a patch of quicksand. Still, he had fought against more worse things than homesickness, and so began to path along the shoreline, glancing at his surroundings as he trekked.

The more Vocil walked, the more he began to feel comfortable about the strange place he had found himself in. He never knew of life outside of Queldorah, but found that, though this world looked different, it also felt different. Better. More peaceful, in fact. But before his mind could wander any further, his eyes caught glimpse of two figures upon the beach. One was fairly small, thin, almost child-like. The other was large and looked quite brutish. Though perhaps against his better judgement, the elf made his way towards them.

"Anar'alah, strangers," he greeted with a half-elven tongue, gestured with a smile and a light wave. "I see that I'm not the only one who idles upon the shoreline."

The odd new stranger appeared to graze his eyes on numerous things of the island before, finally, seeing the two humans. Ajax first rubbed his bearded chin, and smiled. "Well looky there, I haven't seen someone with features like that since 'my' days as an adventurer. Anar'alah, to you as well sir." The hunter warrior would walk forward, seeking to shake hands. Evident by how he held his in the open air."[/color] Meanwhile Mifune smiled and waved, he had grown fond of allowing Ajax to introduce and make a person feel more at home.

Hence why he stood in the same spot, and after Ajax was finished; Mifune chimed in to speak to the male elven explorer. "Yo. Is this your first time to Destiny Islands? Haven't seen you around in the past, and i've been here for a few months... Right Ajax?" The man gave a nod. Turning his head back to Ajax to let the Elf speak...

The sandy shores occasionally being wettened by the waves that slid up the beach peacefully. A bird could be seen cawing in a palm tree off the far right. A few small children ran off swinging wooden swords and sharing a laugh or two. Even to a stranger, negative or positive, this world was free of violence, and a resort to those who took it.

Re: Warm Breeze [Open]

It was quite a sight to see someone as tall as Ajax who wasn't one of Kor'Gan's chosen—hulking Orcish brutes empowered by the favour of their deity. At first Vocil felt rather anxious, intimidated, threatened even, but the apparent benevolence of the man made itself known from his speech and his own hospitable gesture. Though the hunter was of a foreign race, his knowledge of elven tongue relieved Vocil of some of the tension he had. With a nod he extended his own hand to grasp at Ajax', a firm handshake delivered from the more diminutive elf showed he had more strength than what his otherwise average body would assume. "A pleasure, I am sure," he responded, more open than he was prior.

As the other spoke, Vocil's attention was drawn towards it. The elf had seen many things in his time, but he had never seen clothing like that of the young boy who stood in front of him. He was rather intrigued not just by Mifune's dress sense, but the boy as a whole. "Well a few months is a very small amount of time," he spoke up with a chuckle; the time span was insignificant to a person whose species could live to be several centuries old. The elf sauntered towards the boy, allowing himself to be more presentable in person than by being a few feet away. "But I've not been here before now in any case. It is my first time here."

High-pitched laughter reached the elf's long, sensitive ears clearly, prompting him to turn and direct his eyes towards them. Few were boys, and perhaps one was a girl though from the back it was debatable. Thoughts began to flow through Vocil's mind, causing his smile to drop into a straight face, almost stern. "Do you fight often?" he asked straightforwardly in reference to the children carrying, what seemed to him, practice weapons. "To start at an age so young is unsettling even for me."

Mifune slung his hands in his pockets and shook his head, symbolizing a 'no'. "They just like to play around, this is a peaceful world. We have defenses, but we aren't like that I assure. With the exception of me and Ajax; no one here enjoys a duel much."

Mifune shrugged and Ajax spoke up to back up the case, "A good clash of swords is fun, children enjoy to play as all the heroes they read and dream about. Surely as a child you enjoyed role-playing with a stick and running through the grasses... Or in our case sand." Ajax said as he popped his knuckles and took a seat in the sand, growing tired of the long walk from earlier and having to stand up so long. He wasn't the young warrior he used to be, he smirked to himself as he let that run through his mind.

It wasn't something that the elf had heard before, this "play-fighting". It was near enough unheard of for two elves to physically fight one-another unless it was military training and sparring. But here, if what the boy said was true, then it was peaceful. Though he did wonder if whatever these kids were reading was a bad influence on their maturity growth. He had seen people crave and pursue power before, to dangerous results.

But the loud voice of the hunter broke the elf's moment of thought. But as he stood to hear the words he became more and more stern in his thoughts. Though he knew that the world here was different and that Ajax' words were not with ill-intent, it still griped him slightly, especially with his smirk and casual attitude about it.

"No. As a child, I never wielded a stick. That would be asking to die." Vocil became somewhat distant with his words, his mind going back centuries as he relived memories of his childhood. "When I was at their age I had wielded my first blade. And it was used to impale the heart of an Orc barbarian as he rushed towards me. But this is the norm for us elves; to fight in defence against those who would do us harm—and there were plenty. And although I hate the thought of children losing their innocence to violence and bloodshed, I must admit that it is that reason that we have not driven to extinction."

The elf sighed heavily as he took a seat just a few feet from them, his emerald eyes gazing out towards the ocean. "And yet a peaceful place like this exists. For you, there is no reason to fight. For me… Ah, for all elves, we fight because we have no choice. Though I have since left my home, I hope to return one day with more power—power that rivals the gods, to smite our enemies until they are but a fragmented memory."

Mifune's eyes twinkled as the man spoke of wielding a sword to barbarians at a young age. The words flooded over him, since the Chieftain had participated in Olympic Tournaments' he became fond of battle. Enriched and addicted to violence to an extent that other worlds called Greeks' barbaric and evil. His mind wasn't bad but the entertainment had led him to want the same spotlight as the gladiators fighting for their lives.

Mifune wasn't the average boy either, many children in Olympus picked up swords and trained; he and Haimon were just the special exceptions. Mifune who had the determination of a hundred warriors, and his older brother was so keen and cunning that his intellect rivaled all other contenders. These were the traits that made each absorb violence and grow a bitter sweetness to inflicting it upon opponents.

"I'm sorry you had it so hard as a kid. Sometimes war is beneficial to survival, and sometimes its a curse... I really hope that you can return to your homeland. Stronger than ever before too desolate your oppressors and bring peace to your world."

However, after hearing of the Elf and his homeland, Mifune almost felt guilty. Like he himself was a barbarian; he 'WAS' technically a barbarian. His country had destroyed countless civilizations, such as the mighty Achilles when he took Troy in his angered rage at Hector. Even Hercules had taken lives... With a sigh of guilt he opened to his mouth to comfort the traveler. Ajax nodded as he pulled a piece of wood from his pocket and began carving something out of it.

"Aye, believe him. He knows all about chasing power hungry individuals. Climbing ladders for what he seeks, and ultimately searching for his own peace. You and Mifune have a lot in common for such an age gap." Ajax let his eyes look back over at the sitting elf. Ajax was a mighty good man, he seemed to be able to build-up charisma in others. Mifune began to appreciate his company more and more.

It was a bitter pill to swallow to hear himself accept the fact that their constant wars against invaders gave them the knowledge of how to survive, but to hear Mifune recant it was like penicillin to Vocil. It left a bad taste in his mouth to be sure, but his understanding was a slight cure to the elf's heartache. To hear a foreigner boy to like he was a native to Queldorah helped ease the stress of the thoughts he was enduring, and even more so as he cheered for his cause. It was the first piece of praise the elf had received since he had left, and it felt like cool spring water against his face.

Vocil turned a little as he heard the two speak, smiling a little as he heard their words. "Thank you for your kind words," he expressed with gratitude as he peered over the arm that rest on his knee. "Though you sound as though you have experienced these hardships before… despite being in such a peaceful world." He paused for a moment, his eyes narrowing a little as he gazed at the pair. "I assume that you have also explored other worlds?"

"I come from a different world."

"I did a fair amount of adventuring back in my younger days."

The two nodded, but Mifune didn't really feel up to explaining his witch-hunt for a brother who disowned him for darkness. Nor had he been searching the last couple of months do to being so busy here; in a world that seemed to take him in after his own homeworld disowned the boy for losing a hard-fought battle with a foreigner girl.

A girl who ironically was not just a 'girl', but a djinn. Had Mifune known that then maybe he would've been able to formulate better. Alas though, nothing ever seemed to favor his call. He was always against odds, always striving for a better day. Mifune was even able to bet a god or goddess cursed him for this annoyance, since for all the hard work he strived for was always dismissed.

At one point in time I had been drafted into Land of China's war. It was almost a surprise, but I had ended up in a suit of armor and upon a stallion... After fighting that war, I grew to despise it, not battle entirely like yourself. But I hated the death and waste. It was a sickening time back then."

Ajax finished carving a mini-totem pole and tossed it to Vocil. It had three animal heads in finly nit detail. "I use to make totems for my niece. But she's older now. I just make them out of boredom nowadays, go ahead and keep it. You might be able to enchant it, it'd be pretty handy if you're looking for even the smallest boosts to your roster."
