Skill Tree: On the Breaking of Dusk Empty Skill Tree: On the Breaking of Dusk

Post by Xadik Fri May 29, 2015 12:43 pm

Base Ability: Elemental Purity State - Kai chooses one of his non-Time elements, and gains increased proficiency with it and defense against it. However, in this state he cannot use any of his other elements. He can switch elements at will, or deactivate the purity state completely. Kai cannot use Time Magic during the Purity state.
Base Ability Cool Down: Kai can only switch elements once every two posts. If he deactivates the purity state completely it cannot be reactivated for five posts.

Elemental Purity Effects: Light deals slight bonus damage to darkness. Fire Burns the target for 2 posts. Electricity stuns the target for one post. These effects are affected by the target's endurance.

Tier One
1st Skill: Summon: Chain - Kai summons a chain made out of either fire or electricity that only he can touch safely. He can use this chain to hold a weapon for use in ranged attacks or he can launch it at opponents to snare them for 1 post. Can be broken out of if the target is strong enough. If he attaches it to a weapon it lasts for 4 posts. 5 post cooldown.
2nd Skill: Flash step - Kai creates a blinding flash at his feet, blinding anyone who sees it for 1 post, allowing him to dash to a new location without being seen. (4 post cooldown)
3rd Skill: Magic Missile - Kai creates a small missile of pure energy based on which purity he's currently using. It deals slight damage, and has a different effect based on which elemental purity state Kai is in. (2 post cooldown)
4th Skill: Blade Beam - Kai swings his sword, launching a beam of energy out towards a target area. The beam deals slight damage to all enemies hit and has a different effect based on which elemental purity state Kai is in. (5 post cooldown)
5th Skill: Future 'Flection (Passive) - Whenever Kai enters Purity State or switches elements, this activates. Upon deactivating Purity state or switching to a new element Kai receives a small barrier than can block one spell/attack of the same element. Each barrier only lasts one post. (Example: Kai enters Purity State: Light. Later, he switches to Fire. Upon switching he gains a one post, one attack barrier than can block a light spell or attack only.)

Unless you are a nobody, until you reach Tier Four you only have one skill tree. You may suspend the other application to do this one if you wish.

Yeah I thought putting the whole thing in a spoiler and saying to ignore it would kill that tree.

I'm having Axis contact you on your swords, since I don't want you to have to waste a skill tree slot on them. She's going to work with you on getting them approved. That way, you can free up some skill slots.

At this tier, it can only deal Slight damage unless it has a drawback.

Keep in mind that while a person can be snared, strong enough people can break the chain and be free.

We have established on site that in combat, posts general last about six seconds (each post taking place parallel to one another in what is called a round, which also lasts six seconds). You can keep it at 10 seconds, or can simply say two posts.

About how large is plasma barrier? What is its range?

The fifth skill is too powerful. You will be able to do one damage type, it can only do slight damage at their tier without a drawback, and time has no relation to achieving the speed of light- that's space element.

Magic Bullets and Climhazzard still deal too much damage.

Before I continue, what does enhanced proficiency with your element mean?

Slightly increased damage when using that element. Slightly decreased damage taken from that element.

For reference: Fire burning and Thunder stunning will be completely based on the Target's endurance.

Explain by which mechanism Time is unavoidable so that, if it needs a stipulation one may be given.

All elemental purity effects have been explained in their own section of the tree now. All spell wordings have been altered to refer to that section.

It will be beneficial for you to read the small section about Time as an element, found here: https://miragehearts.rpg-board.net/t1572-mh-walkthrough-creating-your-character#6976

If one can haste an ally, shouldn't one be able to haste their own projectiles?

First: Time Spells are usually instantaneous. Hasting them is pointless as result primarily because most time spells declare a target, and then act upon that target, with no travel time. They essentially automatically hit that target. Showing you that link was meant so that you would read that, and see it as a result. Further, I should clarify that no matter how fast the spell is, unless it is lightning based, it will almost certainly be dodge-able if it isn't an autohit.

Second: Of course you can hasten spells as well as allies. On that note, haste never makes a person move almost instantly, and while this doesn't apply to your spells, you as a character, hilariously enough due to the way time functions on site, can not hasten yourself. You are immune to your own element. This is a caveat of time that was and has always been intended.

To clarify on the fifth skill: one part of the skill says it blocks, but another part says it reflects. Which is it?
