At Last, We See Each Other [Invite, Det] Empty At Last, We See Each Other [Invite, Det]

Post by Guest Sun Feb 01, 2015 10:26 pm

Stars above, town below. A strange tranquility across the the world as people populated the streets. To and from districts a collection of young and old. Children on adventure with one another. Imaginations ablaze with the idea of grand quests and amazing treasures ahead. False in reality but in their minds well worth the make belief. Parents would on look from a distance with an amusable expression upon their faces. While others would tend to their own accords. Some in shops, others in homes. All different but together in the town of eternal night.

It was nice to be back again. Away from the hellishness of the rest of the universe to a place that was so calm in atmospheric presence alone. Just a step in and all the tension, all the stress, all the fear melted away. Till all that was left was a sound mind and stable sense of self. Being in this place brought back fond memories. Memories of simpler days where the objectives were less serious and there was nothing but time to enjoy. Ah, what to give to have those days back even just once.

Shoes upon pavement produced a faint clatter as a woman stepped into the streets. Freshly arrived from beyond the walls. Unlike other locations she had visited in past. Here her appearance didn't necessarily make her stand out like a thorn in a pile of a feathers. Short in stature and lean in figure. Her hair as red as a rose in bloom with eyes nearly as pure as emeralds. Her clothing a simple black v-neck shirt with short sleeves. Added to a pair of black jeans as well as set a black and white sneakers. Quite a casual change up in comparison to her usual formal lab coat get up. Though today didn't quite warrant a work worthy ensemble. As she was here for a reprieve from such.

Through the town she proceeded in stride. Her hands within the pockets of her jeans as she climbed the stairs to the higher level of the First District. From there she would pass through the wooden double doors that led to the Second. The sights and sounds along the way grabbing her attention in brief intervals. Engaged in the idea of exploration, it had been some time since her last visit to this world. So perhaps there were new things to discover since then. Additions unknown, places unvisited. If not then there was always an open chair at the local cafe to preoccupy. They had the most fantastic hot chocolate during the cold months and if memory served well, delectable stuffed biscuits that could make the taste buds scream with ecstasy. Maybe she could stop by for lunch. Yeah, that sounded nice.

For now though it was just her, the stars, and the Districts. Whatever happened along the way was but a bonus to the journey.

At Last, We See Each Other [Invite, Det] Empty Re: At Last, We See Each Other [Invite, Det]

Cold.

Alone.

Empty.

Lost.

Bored.

Kinda hungry.

Many different thoughts flooded into the mind of the odd young man as he wandered through the streets of Traverse Town. His eyes were pointed directly at the ground as he walked around, his mouth growing dry, evidence that he has not spoken a single word in quite some time. A dark coat was the only thing protecting his upper body from the chill of the night, while dark pants and boots covered his lower half. Hair which clearly hasn’t been properly brushed in ages hung in front of his face, while his pale skin was the only thing that seemed bright upon his body. A strange glow occasionally lit up the tattoos that seemed to cover his body.

The man seemed unfazed by the dazzling sights of that was Traverse Town, almost blending into the crowds as he wandered the districts. To him, these faces were all just blurs, each one off in their own little world, and the stars of their own plays. He himself felt that he was simply a blur. Seth Vicens, a young man who seemed to be created overnight, almost as if he was overwritten onto another life. It didn’t help that he felt as if there was constantly somebody else with him, subtly dictating his every action. At times, he didn’t even know whether what he was thinking was actually his own thoughts. His eyes would occasionally dart upwards and glance at the various shops and people, but would just as quickly aim towards the streets on which he walked. So caught up was he in his thoughts, that he didn’t even pay any attention to the woman who was walking by him as he finished climbing the stairs, knocking into her and causing himself to stumble backwards towards the stairs.

At Last, We See Each Other [Invite, Det] Empty Re: At Last, We See Each Other [Invite, Det]

Bottom met cold stone when the two came in collision with one another. The other man able to avoid damage as he merely stumbled back upon the staircase. While Axis tried to balance herself only to end up tripping over her own feet. This inevitably caused her to fall to the steps below. How rude. People not watching where it was they were walking. It was probably some mistaken kid with the attention span of five seconds. A grumble sounded from between her lips as a faint pain could be felt. It wavering between strong and weak before vanished altogether. In that time her head propped upward to glance at the person who had crossed her path. She was ready to shoot a slightly annoyed look when she realized something. To surprise, it hadn't been a child but rather a man. Wonderful, a clumsy adult, just what she wanted to deal with. Not.

Still she said nothing that would otherwise lead them to the wrong first impression. When the pain was gone Axis rose from the steps and back onto her feet. Dusting the patches of dirt from her clothes as she feigned a sincere smile. Friendly and excusable. That's the image she had to present here. Not that she wasn't generally friendly with people anyway. This was just an unfortunate case of wrong time, wrong place.

When all was clean and back in order. She flashed her smile in the direction of the man and let out a slightly awkwardly sounding chuckle for added effect. If she was going to put on an act by damn she was going to do it justice. "Forgive me." She spoke in subtle tone. "I did not mean to bump you. Must not have been looking hard enough to where I was going." While she apologized outright something caught her attention in the background. Yet another face that struck a chord with her. Jeez, what was it with all these damndable familiar streaks. Not everyone was someone she knew and yet it felt like that quite frequently as of late. Just one after another without end. It was really starting to urk her on the inside. Not that she would show it out in the open.

At Last, We See Each Other [Invite, Det] Empty Re: At Last, We See Each Other [Invite, Det]

Seriously? What the hell. As Seth fell, he landed on his arm, sending a jolt of pain up towards his shoulder, which he absolutely refused to show. Even though he was rarely looking where he was going, he was still aware enough of his surroundings to be able to not be as clumsy as he appeared to be. Cursing quietly under his breath, Seth brought himself back up to his feet. Who the hell was clumsy enough that they would simply let themselves run into someone walking down the street? He glanced over at the other figure, expecting either some drunken idiot or a zombie. To his surprise, it was a woman, dressed in fairly simple dark clothing. Seth almost felt out of place with his own attire.

Her hair was a fascinating shade of red, and those eyes… Those eyes… What was it about those eyes that he couldn’t help but stare into? Seth felt a tug of familiarity as he further examined her face. It was frustrating to him. Very frustrating. Seth had never seen this woman in his life, and yet he felt as if he had known her for some time. With a huff, he straightened himself out. “No, no,” Seth responded, in a fairly calm voice. “It was my fault. I should have been paying attention to where I was going.” The curiousity remained in Seth’s mind. Who was she? Why did she seem so familiar?

Seth hesitated a moment before extending his hand forward to offer a handshake. “My name is Seth. Care to share yours?”

At Last, We See Each Other [Invite, Det] Empty Re: At Last, We See Each Other [Invite, Det]

Least he had the nerve to put forth an apology of his own. Even though she was in the midst of an emulated friendly demeanor. Axis could spare some respect towards a person who was not above admitting mistakes. Even though she herself had a problem with doing so from time to time. Her pride often getting in the way unnecessarily in such moments. Such a hypocrite some days. In this instance, Seth's calm execution through the whole situation made her ease up on the false emotions. To the point where she too could become calm once more. When he offered a hand in gesture of acquaintance she took a moment to stare at the open palm. As if to consider a deeper intent behind such an offer. Thus the basic reactions of an over active brain. Seriously, it was just a handshake. Ridiculous it would be if she could not return a fair introduction.

Though she might have hesitated at first. Once she got a hold on her surroundings Axis took Seth's hand in her own. Her grip firm but not to the point of painful as she shook it. Perhaps this was a chance to make a new friend if she would let it be. If not, then hey, the moment was nice while it last she supposed. "The names Axis. It's a pleasure."

At Last, We See Each Other [Invite, Det] Empty Re: At Last, We See Each Other [Invite, Det]

Axis… Where have I heard that before? Many thoughts flooded into the mind of Seth as he tried to put together the pieces. Flashes in his head of her in what seemed like a faraway place, yet these were not his memories. Seth could not tell what exactly was happening to him right now, but he nonetheless put on a smile. It had been some time since he smiled, fake or otherwise, given the circumstances of what he has become. Seth felt as if he wasn’t really himself, more so a placeholder for someone else in the universe. This woman’s presence and familiarity kept making the thought reoccur inside his mind. To be quite honest, it was starting to annoy him, even though he would refuse to show it.

“Well, Miss Axis, what brings you around to this place?” Seth asked, in an attempt to continue along with the conversation. Secretly, he was hoping to further explore why she was so familiar to him. That, and there was also something… calming about this woman, which Seth could not figure out what it was. Still, it never hurt to try to make a new friend, even if he was mistaken.

At Last, We See Each Other [Invite, Det] Empty Re: At Last, We See Each Other [Invite, Det]

Throughout the introductions Axis allowed herself a breakdown analysis of the man. Eyes scanned him up and down for his unusual appearance. He was easily not of this specific local. Given credit however as it was definitely one of the more interesting apparels she had witnessed since arriving. What his problem with a shirt though was beyond her. A cape could only do so much for the body. Then again, in Traverse he had the advantageous weather conditions of a mild evening. While his outfit spoke it's own wonders in his eyes another story brew. A shine of hopeful energy. One could only ponder the thoughts that were fueling such a response. In light of the circumstance she would not inquire about it. Neither the place nor time. That and she had just met him after all.

Hand withdrawn from his Axis moved her glance along to avoid such direct eye contact. There was no need to give him the wrong impression at the expense of curious habits. If anything she would simply keep note on his reactions as she felt appropriate. "Casualty really." She responded. "It's been some time since I've been able to enjoy the luxury of travel. So I figured I'd stop by on my way to other worlds." Her arms crossed themselves one over the other while her hips swayed their weight to the side. A more feminine stance than she was used to taking in front of others. Again though, the relaxed nature of the visit allowed her such freedoms of being as her personality and body wanted.

At Last, We See Each Other [Invite, Det] Empty Re: At Last, We See Each Other [Invite, Det]

A slight smirk came across the face of Seth as he watched her enter a relaxed position, almost inviting himself to the same leisure, as he relaxed his shoulders, taking care not to hunch his back. “That is fair enough,” Seth agreed. “Being restricted to a single location for extended periods of time can really be boring.” The young man placed his hands behind his head, letting out a deep breath of air. It had been some time since he felt himself in a state of comfort. Taking care not to make direct eye contact, he sized up Axis, trying his best to fit the pieces together. She was quite attractive, there was no denying that, but- wait, why was that thought suddenly passing through his head? That was completely out of the blue, as he had only just met the woman. It was almost as if it wasn't completely his thoughts. Still, he couldn't help but partly agree with the strange thought.

Nevertheless, Seth had a habit of being able to hide his true thoughts, so he failed to show any inkling of what he was really thinking about. Adjusting the sleeves of his coat, Seth figured now would be a better time than ever to get to know this woman better. Even with his mind on edge, if he was right, he’d find out, but if he was wrong, hey, a new acquaintance never hurts. “Well, given that we both seem to be in the neighbourhood to see the sights, would you care to join me in a walk about town?” the young man offered to Axis. Seth needed to be honest to himself, he needed an escape from the loneliness. The night was relaxing, and it had been a long time since he had had a chance for any fun. His golden eyes peered over towards the woman, his eyes hopeful as he awaited a response.

At Last, We See Each Other [Invite, Det] Empty Re: At Last, We See Each Other [Invite, Det]

"Tell me about it." She replied while letting out a slight chuckle. He had been right about that. To be locked in an office day in and day out without end. She would never hear the end of it from some people. That was assuming she had people. Which lately was next to none. With her loved ones lost to the cosmos and her apprentice far from even being a thing in this stretch of reality. It was clear to see she was one lonely women. Like a crazy cat lady only in a giant computer and with a knack for surrounding herself with digital constructs in place of felines. No one to connect with on any personal level. If this man knew her lifestyle would he think her delusional or maybe even insane. Most likely.

It was that constant reminder that made her crave and enjoy these chance encounters all the more. It exited, it relieved, it made better. Starting with this man here and now. The first of what she partly hoped would be more in the future. Perked by his question which turned into an offer to join him around the town. She was down right enthusiastic to say yes. Something inside her grew by the second. Deep down something warm and inviting. For the first time in forever she felt happy and not just on a standard level. It was a change from the norm and one she was slowly starting to appreciate.

A nod of her head and she agreed to join him. Ready to get things started. "For sure. I could use the company. Can't spend every moment alone so why not." She waved her arms in a motion that suggested for him to lead the way. In her mind wondering if the emotional response to the situation was obvious or not. The last thing she wanted to do was make him uncomfortable in any way. Especially when she knew how hyper active she could get under the right mood.

At Last, We See Each Other [Invite, Det] Empty Re: At Last, We See Each Other [Invite, Det]

Seth smiled as Axis agreed to his invitation. A feeling of relief came over his body as he nodded towards her in what seemed to be thanks of some sort. Inside, he was severely hoping that the woman would say yes, as he needed any reason he could to make a new friend. As she motioned for him to lead the way, Seth hesitated briefly, silently hoping that he would not end up getting them lost. With a deep breath, he strode forward, motioning for Axis to follow. Strolling along, he glanced up at all the signs and buildings in pure wonder and amazement. “I’ll be honest with you, Axis,” Seth began. “I’ve never actually been able to properly explore the worlds before, nor meet any new people, so this is quite a breath of fresh air.”

Seth noticed that he himself was somehow emerging from his typical state of apathy… He was… feeling wonder and such other thoughts? Whatever reason he was having, he was extremely unsure, yet he felt as if he would not give it up for anything. Being able to interact with someone without being far too quiet was nice. Or was he talking too much? Dammit, I better not mess this up. The young man simply smiled at his companion as the two walked along, trying to make her feel as comfortable as possible. As his thoughts fluctuated, a strange mark appeared on his cheek before vanishing. If Axis was watching his face, she would most certainly notice.

At Last, We See Each Other [Invite, Det] Empty Re: At Last, We See Each Other [Invite, Det]

Post by Guest Tue May 05, 2015 8:32 am

As Seth did step forward so too did Axis making sure to follow along behind him. Right off the bat she noticed the wonder very clearly brimming in his eyes as he took in his surroundings. Light from the neon signs and the unique structure of the scape taking his interest. Either he was unfamiliar with the place or hadn't yet been here before. A notion that was somewhat answered when he did his best to instigate a little small talk. Good on em, awkward silence was a killer especially in small groups. Taking a short look around for herself she had to admit it was all a little nostalgic. To see the world all in one functioning piece again much unlike the version she recalled back from her own time. Such a sight was assuring to say the least especially given all the madness and turmoil that was on the rise as of late.

A sigh of relief and she turned back to Seth who continued to speak his mind. Something about not being able to explore worlds and not being able to meet people. A man of little experience it seemed. Not uncommon and yet given his kind of appearance a little hard to believe. The mere thought that this man hadn't travel all that much seemed weird. Then again perhaps it was better that way. There wasn't much reason for people to want to travel all that much lately. With murderers hopping from one world to the next it was a matter of one's own safety in jeopardy by doing so. Jeez talk about making a happy situation dark. Here she was making friends and already her mind sunk back into the depths of every day problems.

As her mind lingered Axis caught herself as she was able. A brief shake of the head dismissing any further attention towards the subject. The whole point of getting away was exactly that. To get away and already she was doing a crap job of doing so. A persistent outcome that was more the frequent as she grew older. Unaware to any changes Seth might have undergone while she was distracted Axis did her best to catch up with the conversation. In bits and pieces she processed his words and quickly tried to reply in a manner that made it seemed like she had been completely with him. "You don't say." A general answer. Something simple that she wouldn't fumble over. "Always good to test out new things isn't it?" With any luck he wouldn't notice her trying to make up for having spaced out in the first place.

At Last, We See Each Other [Invite, Det] Empty Re: At Last, We See Each Other [Invite, Det]

Post by Seth Vicens Wed Jun 10, 2015 4:21 am

"Indeed you are correct in that regard," Seth responded, staring straight ahead. He could hear in her response and subsequent question that she wasn't entirely focused, a fact which seemed vaguely hurtful to him. The young man was suddenly assaulted by fears of whether he had insulted her in such a way that she lost interest. In his mind, he was suddenly scared, afraid of being rendered alone again, abandoned once more. His lip slightly trembled before calming once again. He couldn't let his new companion see any signs of weakness. Weakness was what leads people to abandoning you.

A flashback, a young man in a dark castle. With him, a woman close to his age. The scene? The end of an interesting night. The woman overcome by emotions, as she finally had realized who she was. The man, heartbroken as he realized that he had been apparently experiencing what he assumed now was a time of lies. A conversation yet untold occurred as the two went their separate ways, until fate would once more bring them together...

Memories began to worm their ways into the mind of the man as his golden eyes continued to scan the streets for anything of note, and yet he was unaware as they entered into his innocent mind. "Sometimes it feels as if I was meant to do more before it was taken from me," Seth mused, some faint hurt in his voice. Any sign of being bothered would vanish as he turned his head to face Axis with a smile upon his visage. "You must have had quite a bit happen in your lifetime, I'm guessing?" An odd question, but he figured he may as well try to gain some insight as to who this woman was and why she would be so... interesting.
