Character Profile
Name: Terra
Nickname: N/A
Age: Unknown
Gender: Male
Job: Keyblade Wielder | Wanderer
Heart: Darkness
Personality:
Terra's calm, cool, and quiet exterior hides a heart that would fight for his friends to the bitter end. Terra struggles to keep himself on the right path, and is constantly tempted by the power of darkness. He can be slightly oblivious to people attempting to seduce him into darkness, which can force him to doubt those closest to him, and only recognizes his mistakes after the fact. While not gullible, Terra can be overly trusting, which most people use to their advantage.
Terra does not often show it, but he has a mildly competitive and even somewhat jealous side to him. He is also fearless, and not afraid to go beyond his limits when it comes to helping those in need. When he realizes that as a Keyblade Wielder, he understands that it is his primary responsibility to keep the worlds as safe as possible, though in the past due to his darkness, he has often made irreversible mistakes.
His experiences with his darkness bring a negative vibe to him, but Terra holds his bond with those he considers his friends in high esteem, willing to fight for them despite his ties to the darkness, and wishing to help them long after his possession. He also admires those who use the Keyblade with higher skill, and longs to become stronger.
Despite how often he can mess up, Terra’s intentions are always good at heart, though misguided. He has never intentionally done anybody harm, and comes to blows with his enemies only when they’ve proven to be a threat to others. In the end, though he may fall deep into darkness, Terra knows that his place, his heart, and his future all lie in the morning light.
Primary Elements:
Darkness
Fire
Earth
Gravity
History:
Terra's past is, in a word, enigmatic. There are neither files of his birth on any world, nor is the young man prone to speaking about it to strangers. There are however, many records showing a boy of Terra's description as living in Daybreak Town, though he is given no name. Despite this, there is no trace of showing a parentage, and no couples living there can claim him as their own. With this information, many can only conclude he was orphaned at a young age.
Terra, as a youth, was stubborn and tenacious. Whatever he wanted, he strove to take for his own, no matter the obstacles. Although sometimes his demeanor came across as bullying to some, he was at heart a kind and caring young man. Though he tended to get into fights with other children (and sometimes people much bigger than himself), he stuck to a close code of honor, and refused to hurt the innocent.
At the age of ten, Terra finally decided to leave the orphanage, as documented by a report to the town guards for his immediate return. However, the boy constantly eluded capture many times, often overpowering or outwitting his opponents. For several years, Terra lived on the streets, earning his name as a local menace and from time to time, aiding those in need.
Yet things changed the day Terra discovered his potency with the Keyblade. By pure, random accident, the emblem Heartless besieged the main square of Daybreak Town, causing havoc to its citizens. The guards, too occupied with protecting the people from the oncoming destruction, could not face the creatures by their lonesome. Many residents claim a young man of Terra's description summoned forth a weapon by sheer willpower, and began to take the lives of the invaders one by one. Afterwards, he was never seen again.
Terra now wanders the worlds aimlessly, searching for answers to his mysterious transformation into what appears to be a hero. History has been shifted. There is now only the promise of the next day, and the hope that all will be well in the end.
Physical Description:
Height: 6' 2"
Weight: Unknown
Hair: Dark Brown
Eyes: Dark Blue
Description.
Despite his background, Terra is a rather attractive young man. He keeps his dark hair spiked upwards, bangs parted to each side of his face to frame his features. - Spoiler:
Wake up, Terra.
Terra couldn’t feel a thing. He was numb from his head to his toes…but he could hear.
Terra—Terra!
But that couldn’t be…He thought. No, wait…yes it was. He remembered now.
Master Eraqus?
Terra, you must wake—I have protected you this long, but now you must fight this darkness that you have been cast into.
“Master,” Terra muttered. His voice had returned to him, somehow. He was beginning to feel sensations now, along his skin. Just how long had he been comatose? “Is…is that you?”
Terra, focus. There is no time. Xehanort’s plans have borne a sinister fruit, one that threatens to bring ruin to every world! You must fight, Terra…You must keep fighting him.
“I’ve failed you, Master Eraqus,” the other sighed, shaking his head. “I’ve failed you, Aqua, Ven…Master Yen Sid…I’ve ruined everything…I…I helped him succeed.” The Keyblade Warrior clenched his fists. He could feel his skin now, ice cold against the freezing dark all around him…so much black…how was it possible to be so terribly, horribly dark?
“If I hadn’t been so foolish—I would have seen him plotting this! But I let everybody down…I couldn’t fight the dark…I just wasn’t strong enough.”
Terra, you ARE strong enough. You’ve fought Xehanort before and won, you’ve faced so much, and you’ve survived this long—you cannot give into your own feelings now—Aqua and Ventus are relying on you, to aid them!
Bitterly, Terra shut his eyes, recalling back to the last time he’d seen his dearest friends…and his Master.
“I struck you down, master. I was weak, and foolish…I deserve my fate.”
I forgave you long ago, my student…For I too, was weak, and afraid. I allowed my fear to consume me…and nearly harmed Ventus and you in that weakness. I have helped you this far because I know you can get through this as you have with so many other obstacles in your path. Do not fear, as I did Terra…I made a mistake, to be fearful of the dark as I did, and my fears became yours, leading you down your road. Focus your strength, Terra—I know you can. Put faith in yourself as I do now.
Terra knit his brow, trying to concentrate, trying to move his body, and after a few moments of struggling in the air, found himself floating down to the ground. Steadily, he kept himself upright, if just barely; his whole form was weak and wobbly, but he had been in worse situations before.
“Master,” the apprentice said, to the open emptiness. “What do I do now?”
Trust your heart, Terra. Perhaps it is steeped in darkness, but you were right—you were right when you told yourself that you were strong enough to hold it back—and you are strong enough, I have seen it. Concentrate. Feel around you. The answer will come.
…I too, must go now. The light calls to me as well.
“Th-the light…Master, are you leaving me?!” The other exclaimed, his heart racing with panic. “Please, don’t go!”
You will see me again, my apprentice…that much I promise you. Fight…fight for me, fight for your friends…they will lead you back where you truly belong.
Terra hung his head as the voice of his surrogate father faded away into the abyss, his emotions swelling with shame and sorrow…but only for a moment. They flared into a bold, furious determination, and that…was what made him strong.
“Alright…” Terra muttered to himself. “Let’s see what I can do to bring the old man down a few pegs.”
Focusing on the darkness around him, the black fog within his heart, Terra slowly began seeing things…visions—no, not visions—memories…memories that didn’t belong to him.
Of course—he remembered now—Xehanort! He’d been using him this whole time…Terra had been watching, and yet been asleep all these…Had it really been so long? Years?
How long had it been since that battle at the Graveyard?
The Keyblade Warrior could see them now; the memories Xehanort had forged while he’d taken his body were becoming clearer now…Ansem the Wise, a man whom Xehanort would betray…the Heartless known as the Seeker of Darkness, who followed the path of his creator, and took…
But it couldn’t be, could it?
Terra gawked at the form of…yes, but it was, Riku—it was the boy he’d performed the Rites on when he’d visited the island world! This Heartless had taken him prisoner but…He had fought back. He would redeem himself. He would fight, against the darkness, and use it to protect…Strength…to protect what mattered to him.
Was that possible? Had Master Eraqus intended for him to see that? Surely he had; to inspire him to do the same!
There was so much more…the shell his body had created, the Nobody who called himself Xemnas…how many lives he had broken and shattered, lied and manipulated…Other people, other sides, other stories of innocent souls who had only been looking for something they’d had all along—why would anybody be so cruel?! And that they looked so much alike…it made Terra’s skin crawl…
And yet he had been stopped too—by the two boys he’d seen on the islands—had he truly touched their lives so much? He had ruined them by becoming something so horrible, and yet if he hadn’t performed the rites on Riku…where would they be now? Terra had both saved and damned them…he wasn’t sure whether or not to feel relief, or grief.
No. It wasn’t me that doomed them to this fate…It was Xehanort! Xehanort…who hurt Ven! Xehanort…who took me from my friends! Xehanort, who tricked me, and tricked Master Eraqus! Xehanort, who destroyed that world of Light, and betrayed the Sage King! Xehanort, who tried to drown the world in darkness! Xehanort…who lied and manipulated all of those people, and sent them to their doom!
…XEHANORT!
Terra was fully awake now…and the first thing he was going to do…was escape. But as he looked around, a chilling noise startled him…a voice he wished he’d never heard.
“Fool of a boy. You've long since lost your conflict with me...So why is it you continue to defy your destiny?”
Just as suddenly as he had been in the pit of blackness, Terra found himself standing now, as the void faded away, in a world he’d never seen before. It was draped in eternal night, the dark swelling like a storm around him. Before him, with eyes piercing amber through his very soul…was Master Xehanort. He certainly looked just as decrepit and old as Terra remembered him…so much for using his body. Beside Xehanort stood several figures he only vaguely recognized from the experiences he'd had in his stasis; one of them he knew was Braig, the guard from the city of light, but the other was a gentleman with blue hair he didn't know right away. The scar across his features was enough to make him intimidating enough, but there was a sort of hidden depths to him that caused Terra to stiffen slightly.
That was hardly the worse of it though. He could see the others, too. The doomed warrior stared into the faces that were practically replicas of his own, though twisted through Xehanort's malice and greed. It was unnerving, just how much the three looked alike. He knew their names, too, which was surreal. It made Terra wonder how much they remembered about what it had been like to be him...Perhaps they recalled Aqua, or Ven, or Eraqus. Maybe, because they were one another, he could get them to help him somehow.
“It is quite amusing how hopefully you gaze at your other halves,” Xehanort chortled. “However, you are mistaken in your thoughts. Neither the Seeker nor the Superior will aid you in whatever scheme you're planning...they are, like you, bound to my will.”
Gathering his courage, Terra focused his strength, his anger, his sorrow, and all of his determination…and spoke.
“I told you before; whatever the cost, I’m willing to pay it. I’ve paid my dues now, Xehanort. It’s taken this long, and I’ve done so much wrong…but I’m strong enough now…and I know what I have to do, to make sure you never get a glimpse of Kingdom Hearts!”
With a flourish, the Keyblade Warrior summoned forth his weapon in a cascade of cubes and data, resuming an attack stance that was all too familiar to him.
“My heart…is not as weak as you think! And when I get out of here…You’re going to pay for everything you’ve done!”
“Surely you’re not still foolish enough to believe you can overpower me,” Xehanort croaked, his tone caked with amusement. “For years you’ve been trapped in the darkness of your own heart, too weak to fight against it. What makes you so sure you can conquer it, or myself…now? Your greatest power is your ties to the darkness...power you cannot hope to wield against the likes of me. Or do you not recall the last time you tried to strike me down with it?”
For a while, Terra was stunned by his response…Xehanort was right, as much as he didn’t want to admit it. In all honesty, he was surprised he’d gotten this far—to consciousness, and speaking, and accessing the outside—before, he’d never thought it was possible.
But he knew he could do it now…because he had seen it done before. If Riku could do it...so could he.
“I’ve already conquered it,” the other replied, with a triumphant smirk. “You’ve come back…which means, so can I.” His dark blue eyes locked with that of the old man’s. “And I am. Get ready, Master Xehanort…because I’m coming for you!”
Terra focused the dark energies in his heart, concentrating, struggling to reclaim the link between him and his discarded armor. He may not have had a body…but in the armor at least, he could still make progress.
Without warning, like the pinging of a radar, Terra sensed his Lingering Will, where it had been left all those years ago, and the young man grinned to himself. This time…he was going to make a difference the right way. He shattered into pieces, shards of orange glass and particles of light, aiming his way towards a temporary body…and to a future where he hoped he could succeed.
S'not photoshop. Promise.

Re: Character Profile
Quotes aren't necessary.
I need more from his history, Who were Aqua, Ventus, and Eraqus? Why does he want to search for them? Why are they important? They were only mentioned at the end of his history and it was sort of random to namedrop them when they weren't even mentioned.

As far as we know, Eraqus isn't around presently (unless someone picks him up/he's used in an event later on.) He just sorta poofed the Land of Departure into Castle Oblivion and left, according to Shi's description of the lore. Supposedly, he never took Terra or Aqua in as apprentices because...he poofed. No idea where he went.
Because of that, Ventus and Aqua aren't really important to him at all. He's never met them. I never implied he was looking for any specific person, but rather someone who can aid him in learning about the Keyblade and its abilities. I mentioned them only for the sake of letting people know he hasn't been influenced by them because...as it stands (thus far), they don't exist.
So really, Terra's interactions between any of the characters that might appear from his original lore (again, if any are ever picked up,) it would be the same way he'd respond to meeting anybody else. Since this is an AU, nothing has really happened to any of the surviving canons (that we're currently aware of,) as far as relationships and interactions with one another. Most of them have had key parts of those bonds stripped out because of what's supposedly happened in the time stream.

Re: Character Profile
Okay, if they didn't exist then why are they in his history?
Plus, what if someone else wanted to use Aqua or Ven and they were included in your history? I'm sorry, but I don't think it's right to just force those canons in your history when someone else wants to use them as their own.

...I just explained why I briefly mentioned them in one sentence, but okay.
Deleted sentence.
