Nothing To Do Empty Nothing To Do

Post by Adelynn Mon Sep 28, 2015 9:36 pm

Adelynn sat on a bench, gazing nonchalantly toward the center of the Sandlot. Feet pulled up next to her, arm resting across her knee, she managed to take up the space of two people despite her slender form. Not that she really cared. If someone needed the seat, let them try to take it from her. She sighed as she watched a couple of young boys practicing a game called Struggle. The concept was simple really... all one had to do to win was hit the other person and collect the orbs they dropped until time ran out. She'd played a few rounds herself, but from what she gathered, the decent opponents only showed up around tournament season.

The self- proclaimed knight stretched out her arms, yawning loudly. "I'm bored," she said aloud, although no one was listening. It was true. In Adelynn's experience, there were two types of boredom. There was "I'd rather be doing something more interesting." boredom, and then there was "I feel like tearing my hair out just to feel something besides this numbness that's eating away at my insides because there's absolutely nothing fun to do!!!" type boredom. Currently, she was experiencing the second one. "There's gotta be something cool around here..."

Ignoring the two boys (who at this point had stopped fighting to stare at the girl who was talking to herself like a crazy person), she turned her head toward the sky. She was so tired of this place. Nothing ever changed. Every day, she woke up to the same sounds. The same kids ran through the streets, playing the same games, running past the same shops, riding on the same trolley that went around the same circular track over and over again...Just thinking about it made her want to outlaw the word "same." Adventurous spirit that she was, the whole situation made her feel trapped. It was like she was locked in this perpetual twilight... and it kinda ticked her off.

Nothing To Do Empty Re: Nothing To Do

Post by Chandra Tue Sep 29, 2015 1:35 am

This was her second visit here, the young angel recalled as she took a bird's eye view of the town. The last time she was here, Alphonse brought her with him on the ship he was a crew of. Today was a similar situation, and having failed to see much of the sights last time, Chandra decided to make up for the missed opportunity. She was flying freely in the sky, watching the ant-sized people walking down the streets.

Being in the sky made her feel happy. It always has. Just to feel the wind under her wings as she leisurely flapped them without much effort, the gentle caress of the air flowing through her hair and cheeks. One thing she could always live with was the lack of bugs flying into her face. Luckily, there was none of that, at least none in the area she was flying around in.

Below, she saw a little gathering where the old clock tower was. Alphonse told her that some bad people did some bad things in Twilight Town, which lead to the tower's destruction. Now, the current leader simply left a memorial in its place. She would have to check it out, but there was still too many people out. They should be going home in a few hours, right? Or were they just coming out? It was difficult to tell with this world, always being stuck in this moment of the day for which their Town took its namesake.

Passing a square-shaped area, she saw a few people down there, two of which seemed to be fighting. It got her curious, and for a moment, she slowed down a bit to watch it transpire. It didn't look to be something serious, but she could have been wrong. She didn't like fighting, but she wouldn't dare go between fighters. That is, unless she really, really, really had to.

She didn't notice an oncoming bird, and it smacked right into her. The bird, startled as she was, began frantically flapping its wings and clawing at her. There was no real damage done to her or the bird when the bird finally got hold of its senses and fly away from her. But Chandra felt that she had just lost something. That's when she heard a little 'Ting' sound, and realized that her halo wasn't on her head anymore, having been knocked off by the frantic bird in the midair tussle.

She quickly dove down, hoping that she didn't hit anyone with it. She wasn't too concerned about it breaking on impact, since she did drop it a few times in even higher altitudes and it didn't even suffer a dent. Too preoccupied with searching for her halo, a drop of sweat on her forehead, she had ignored the presence of those around her, allowing her to set aside her timidness for the moment.

Nothing To Do Empty Re: Nothing To Do

Post by Adelynn Tue Sep 29, 2015 9:41 pm

As Adelynn continued to stare up at the sky, she spotted what appeared to be two birds colliding in the air. Ouch... she thought. That had to hurt. She watched the scene with mild interest for a few seconds as the figures danced around in the distance, wondering if one of them was going to fall. As the first figure recovered, however, something else seemed to plummet from the sky. It was shiny and round and... headed strait for where she was sitting! The graceful teenager lept from her seat, turned in the air, and hit the dust below her flat on her back. She'd have to work on that landing.

"HEY, WATCH IT!" she yelled at the inanimate object that had just touched down where she had been sitting a moment before. It was silly, of course, to scream at something that could not hear her. Yet at the moment, Adelynn didn't really care. She was always loud when something surprised her. Actually.... she was just always loud. She jumped quickly to her feet, this time landing  in a much more desirable stance. Fists clenched at her sides and feet spread to evenly support her weight, she looked ready to pummel the object into oblivion.

A single glance at it revealed that it was no threat to her. It was some sort of ring, although it was far too big to fit even the larges of fingers. A necklace perhaps? Or possibly one of those rings they put on door-knockers? Honestly, she had absolutely no idea. Whatever it was, she'd never seen anything quite like it before. She turned to where the two boys had been standing, but they were nowhere to be found. Most likely ran away when things started falling from the sky Oh well, they probably wouldn't have been much help anyway.

She turned around again, only to be met with another surprise. The second bird (or rather, what she'd thought was a bird) had just come to rest in the center of the Sandlot. The figure had not been another bird as she's assumed, but rather a girl. She was looking frantically around the area, ignoring Adelynn as she looked at her curiously. Perhaps this day wouldn't be so boring after all. Realizing that the strange object must have come from this girl, the loud warrior raised her voice.

"Hey, you! Looking for this?"

Nothing To Do Empty Re: Nothing To Do

Post by Chandra Wed Sep 30, 2015 12:29 am

Chandra's panic increased the longer she spent searching. No way she could have lost it. She just couldn't have lost it. She became more frantic, looking everywhere she thought the halo could be. Tears began welling up in her eyes. She just couldn't stand the thought of losing it.

Suddenly, someone shouted, making her jump and whip her head back. Her sorrow was replaced with fear as she mistook the call as something that antagonized her. She pulled her hands to here chest and slowly backed away from the girl. That is, until she noticed her halo. Just seeing that made all of her negative emotions fly away, sucked into a vortex of happiness.

She quickly rushed over to the girl, Chandra's face smiling gratefully to her. Without thinking, she gave the girl a hug before taking the halo back and placing it upon her head. Chandra breathed a sigh of relief, her wings dropping along. It was a moment before she realized what she did. Her wings folded into her back as she looked up at the girl who found her halo. She gulped and shook a little. Hopefully, the girl didn't take offense to the hug.

Nothing To Do Empty Re: Nothing To Do

Post by Adelynn Fri Oct 02, 2015 5:15 pm

Adelynn blinked, stunned for a moment by the girl's reaction. With her spiky hair and violent attitude, she wasn't really the type of person who received a lot of hugs. Her muscles tensed, unsure of how to react to the physical contact. The girl didn't seen to pose a threat though, and when she released Adelynn from her grasp, the tension dissipated.

The girl seemed grateful for the return of her strange hat-type thing (Adelynn was still rather uncertain as to what it was.) At any rate she was smiling. And it was kinda impressive how she had swooped down from the sky. Oh yeah! she thought, fully comprehending the situation for the first time. This lady's got wings!!! It would be rather rude to ask about it, she supposed. Then again, Adelynn was never really concerned with manners.

Of course, introductions were generally  a mutual affair, and from the look on her face, one could tell the girl was nervous. If nothing else, this was an improvement on her previous boredom, and she figured it was better not to scare the new arrival away. Interrogations wouldn't help anything.  "Um... yeah. No problem." The young warrior smiled, extending her hand. "The name's Adelynn. Who are you?"

Nothing To Do Empty Re: Nothing To Do

Chandra felt relief easing up her muscles when the girl smiled to her. She wasn't mad with the hug, which was good thing. Chandra smiled back, shaking the extended hand with her long sleeves that made her robe look like it was meant for someone much bigger than herself. The other girl introduced herself as Adelynn. A nice name, she thought.

The young angel reached into one of her sleeves and pulled out a small card with the word "Chandra" drawn on it with crayons, presenting it to the girl. It was something she made on board the ship after one too many introductions and an accidental slip had her searching around for her clip where her name was etched into the back. The card was Alphonse's idea, and it was a little embarrassing how she didn't think of it before.

Adelynn looked at the card, tilting her head as she made out the crayon writing. "Chandra", it read. It seemed like Chandra didn't talk much. In fact, since she had landed, she hadn't actually said a word. The presentation of the card and the fact that she had wings did little to ease Adelynn's confusion. Well... less confusion, more curiosity. She'd never met anyone like this girl, and naturally she wanted to know more. Moments ago she had been bored out of her mind, but now something interesting was happening.

Besides, being an extrovert, she loved to make new friends. "Well then, it's nice to meet you Chandra!" Adelynn grinned. "Not much of a talker, huh? That's alright, I talk enough for two people anyway..." She paused for a moment, unsure of what to say next. Yet her mouth was never sealed for long. As she always did when the right words wouldn't come, the young knight just started spouting any words that came into her head. "Um... nice wings. Impressive landing back there too. I've never seen a person with wings before. Must be cool, getting to fly around all the time. And that ring-hat thing is pretty sweet as well. Even though it did almost hit me in the face... but hey, can't get mad at random objects! Anyway, wanna hang out?"

Nothing To Do Empty Re: Nothing To Do

Post by Chandra Wed Oct 07, 2015 12:28 am

Chandra didn't have enough time to react to much of the girl's comments; she wasn't give enough time to try to. Such a contrast between the two of them on that side, but the angel was happy all the same. She was flattered with the compliments and a little embarrassed when Adelynn mentioned almost getting hit with her halo. Got to be careful not to lose it again mid-flight, or she could seriously injure someone with it.

Face beaming with delight on the offer, Chandra nodded enthusiastically to accept. Spending some time with someone who could carry on a conversation with herself should be fun, and Adelynn didn't seem to have a problem hanging around someone who didn't talk much, so there shouldn't be too many problems in communications. Chandra was used to conveying what she's trying to say with just body language anyway.

Nothing To Do Empty Re: Nothing To Do

Post by Adelynn Thu Oct 08, 2015 1:34 pm

"Cool!"

Adelynn looked around for a moment, struck by the fact that she didn't actually know where to go. Chandra didn't seem like the fighting type, so the alleys and the Sandlot were probably out. She could go to the top of the clock tower since the view was so awesome, but her new friend had wings, so she wasn't likely to be quite as impressed... And then of course there was the question of where Chandra had been already. Obviously she wasn't from this part of town. Unobservant as Adelynn could be, she would've noticed a chick with wings. That was kinda weird though... she'd thought that she'd managed to cover all of the ground in her exploring. Perhaps she was from out-of-town. After all, the trains had to go somewhere.

"So Chandra," she turned to her new companion, suddenly realizing that she might like a say in the decision. "You ever been here before? Is there someplace in particular you want to go?"

Nothing To Do Empty Re: Nothing To Do

Post by Chandra Thu Oct 08, 2015 8:48 pm

Chandra blinked. Where did she want to go? She hadn't explored that much, so she wouldn't know where the best sights were. She put a hand under her chin and closed her eyes for a second to think. There had to be something that caught her eye from up there... Oh that's right! That big building with the train! Alphonse talked so much about it, but couldn't take her to see it because he still had things to do.

The angel waved her arms in the air, smiling. Then she placed a hand under her chin again, her smile replaced with a look of confusion. How exactly could she say it... She tried drawing a large box with her hands, but got nowhere further... A drop of sweat trailed down her cheek. She looked around and saw the station between buildings and excitedly pointed to it, hopping a little.
