TWTNW Raid: Dark Thorn

~♥ Welcome to the raid, kupo! Here is some information you need to know before you start posting. There is a limit to the number of times a character can post. This is so a fight won't go on and on, kupo. For these particular raids the limit is 10. On the last post, characters will need to prepare themselves for the end of the battle whether that be by retreating, setting up final defenses, sacrifices, etc. A warning will be given on the last post to remind you. “Another one down,” the Darkson soldier says with a smile as his spear pierces a neoshadow, causing it ti dissipate into smoke. An angry cry, and the clang of metal signals the death of another monster of darkness from nearby. “You clear that alleyway yet, Damien?” The same troop calls to an area out of immediate sight.

“Yeah, nasty little buggers ain’t they?” a rather large, widely grinning armored soldier comes sauntering from out of the darkness, his sword being placed lazily upon his shoulder. “Think the family will give us a raise for this? We’ve been cutting these lil bastards down for weeks!” A dismissive wave of the hand is the response he’s given. “What, don’t tell me you aven’t thought about it too, Patton?”

“I have, I have, just shush. We can talk about that when we get back to the castle,” Patton looks to hs partner’s belly, seeing it protrude from his platemail, “you’d think a daily banquet for those of us tasked to do this would be enough to satisfy your fat ass.” A growl and angry glare is given in turn for the brutal honesty from the much smaller, sculpted man before the obese trooper.

“Food won’t pay for good company, Patton. I need me a young’n this time,” Damien says, rubbing his belly in a slow, circular fashion, “them old broads are too loose.” This earns a scoff from his partner as he cleans the black residue from his spear.

“Or maybe you’re packing a dagger instead of a longsword,” laughter befalls him shortly after, as does a mighty swing of the sword from his partner. The blur of an attack is aptly dodged by the shorter individual, the tip of his spear now pressing against his partner’s neck. “Calm down, Damien, it’s just a joke not a bloody cock don’t take it so hard.” Damien’s double chin quivers with rage, and his eyes reflect that same intensity, and in an instant it’s gone, replaced with an expression of terror the likes of which Patton has never seen. All color seems to drain from the portly man’s face.

“What, I’m not gonna kill ya man. If I wanted to do that I’d have done it years ago,” the shivering of the much larger man is off putting, but Patton ignores it as best he can, chalking up Damien’s reaction to nerves, “now come on, let’s report back to Morgan. She’d like to hear we cleared out this section of the city.”Turning from his friend, and meeting where his eyes were focused, cuts any and all future words from Patton’s throat.

It wasn’t fear of him, but of the undulating building behind them. A low creak and moan of metal beams warping via corruption, and concrete mixing with black causes the duo to back away. Suddenly the skyscraper falls on its side in a single piece, creating destruction in an instant. Bits of pavement, concrete, and metal fly in all directions. The smaller projectiles, however, are swiftly deflected by Patton spinning his spear in front of his body. Grabbing Damien by the collar of his armor, he leaps into the air, avoiding the giant building’s scrape like attack. Unfortunately the buildings caught within the monster’s single swipe levels them to nothing. A giant parking lot created within a second.

The two land safely atop a smaller building some distance away, both sweating profusely.

“W-we need to report this to the Queen's Champion, now!” Patton cries, leaping from building to building with his partner in tow. Both head for the sanctity that is the pale white construct floating in the distance. Such a stark contrast to the Dark City surrounding it, so much so that the same monster that possessed the buildings now takes notice of it. A shiny treasure, filled to the brim with potential power. The Dark Thorn is seemingly drunk off the scent, and feels itself drawn to the solitary creation, intent on bringing it down to join the rest of the city.

Using the Skyscraper and surrounding construction as it’s temporary body, the now colossal creature takes mighty steps through the World that Never Was. Each step rises high above the tallest building, and those unfortunate enough to have been built where they were collapse under the sheer weight of the temporary form. Each stomp is like an earthquake, shaking the surrounding areas and spreading the destruction to untold levels.

Sebastian has been tending to the injured ever since the invasion began. They were short on hands, so it was necessary that he had to leave the queen's side. For now the soldiers were keeping the vile creatures from the castle, and he had faith that they were capable of holding them back. But as the hours ticked by, he couldn't help but feel distressed, even though he completely hid all of it behind a calm face. His uniform was stained with red, and the sight of blood on his gloves would only let him think of the possibility that it would be Morgan's blood on his hands. It would mark his failure as her personal guard and butler, but he was determined to not let that happen.

But no matter how quickly he worked, more came in. Luckily, the medics knew some powerful healing magic, so the infirmary wasn't always so crowded. But that took time, and some of the arrivals didn't have that. Which is where he came in. He took it upon himself to stabilize their health, and extend their lives until the medics could get on with what they needed to do until more medical personnel could make their way to the infirmary.

Fortunately, they did arrive, and Sebastian was free to return to the queen's side. But that fortune turned sour the moment the gigantic creature made for the castle. "With a creature that size, the soldiers will need all they help they could get..." A scout was running down the hall, presumably to report to the queen. With a quick motion, Sebastian stopped the scout and said, "Please tell the queen that I'll only be taking a little while longer."

It seems a bit silly, don't you think? A butler going against a giant such as that? What most people didn't know, was that Sebastian was more than just a castle butler. He was Morgan's butler.

Opening a hidden panel from the wall, he took out some supplies. An electric baton, a pistol and some ammunition. That was all he needed.

He exited the building and dashed to intercept the beast, but was stopped by a group of Neoshadows and their smaller cousins. The baton crackled as it was switched on, and with blinding speed, the butler had taken down five of the Heartless, and led the rest away from the building's entrance. He simply didn't have time to dally with the smaller targets, not when there were soldier up ahead who could be better put to use on fighting the regular heartless rather than attempting to hit the giant with weapons that weren't even in effective range.

Deji knew what she had to do and knew it well she did. The emerald haired woman was tasked with being the right-hand of Queen Morgan Darkson, whom she swore to protect no matter the costs. That very same queen told her to let loose and enjoy herself, while she went off to start up the cities defenses... Morgan couldn't have made her Hand any happier.

The snake-kin had quickly ran through the hallways, a wide grin on her lips as she made her way to the closest outside area to jump out from. Lo and behold, when she actually arrives at her desired destination, there was a monstrous sight in the form of a myriad of buildings moving about. They inched closer and closer towards the castle, but now they had to deal with the world's champion, Yue'Deji. Her body ached with anticipation, trembled even, as she jumped from her destination.

Down below, the butler Sebastian would have been able to hear the sound barrier explode with a great force, as Deji entered onto the scene. Her first order of business would be to attack the building construct immediately. "LUNCH TIME!" Deji cried out at the top of her lungs, her fist pulled back as she closed the distance between the creature possessed building and herself. Almost instantly, her punch would connect with the thing and aimed to turn it into nothing more but glitter in that one strike.

This will be the final boss post, kupo. The Heartless have attained victory. You will be allowed one post to respond. Remember do not continue to fight a hopeless battle. To do so will result in death, but that is up to you. Your fate is in your hands. Sometimes the best tactic is to retreat, Kupo.

The Phantom and the Dark Thorn, pushed on through the battles, forcing heroes into a corner at every turn. The Heartless horde continued across the city, stealing every heart they could get their claws on and adding yet another shadow to their endless numbers. Gradually, the Heartless began to retreat. They were being called somewhere else. Portals opened all over, allowing the dark fiends to make their escape to the Land of Dragons and Wonderland, two worlds that had been overwhelmed by the the darkness. As the last Heartless disappeared, no one cheered. This was no victory. Destruction was seen at every turn. So many soldiers and civilians had been lost. Not to mention the damage that had been done to the city itself. Perhaps they would live another day, or the Heartless would return to deliver the final blow. How could they ever survive a threat like that again? Their confidence had been laid low.

The bright city lights were gone, allowing the stars to stand out since the birth the world. One after another, the stars that were the LoD and Wonderland were snuffed out.

She wasn't called the Queen's Champion for no reason. Deji's ability to take a hit, while also dealing it was a godsent in a literal sense as the military continued to drive away as many Heartless as possible. The cuts and bruises the woman received on the way were well worth it, considering she had to fight away literal hordes of enemies while she went toe-to-toe with the Dark Thorn. An opponent who was worthy of her skills, yet even she didn't find it entertaining to fight after a certain amount of time.

Eventually, their bloody fight of tooth and nail came to a conclusion, as they all started to retreat. Deji followed suit and had continued to beat away at them, slinging spells, punching and kicking their asses as far back as possible. Only when the emerald warrior received orders from the queen to fall-back with the rest of the soldiers, did Deji relent. A bright grin came to her lips before she made her escape out of there. Anything that attempted to bar her passage was only met with an unstoppable force. Along the way, the champion had aided soldiers who were either in the middle of fighting, or evacuating civilians further towards the castle.

While it was no victory there certainly wasn't a defeat. Morgan nor Deji would allow for any of that to happen on their watch. They will lick their wounds and come back even stronger to strike back against the Heartless menace...

There was an unacceptable miscalculation on Sebastian's part. He had underestimated the heartless numbers. He didn't expect there to be so many. They simply kept coming like a tsunami slowly engulfing the world. No matter how many of the little ones were dispatched by the army, they were still being overwhelmed. The butler was assisting the Queen's champion in whatever way he could manage, directing squads to fire upon the large creature that possessed the buildings while he covered them from the heartless on the ground.

But that wasn't going to last. Soon, everyone was ordered to fall back. There was simply too much to handle, and staying till the bitter end was not an option. This battle was lost, now was the time to save as many people as possible. In accordance with the order of retreat, Sebastian did so while assisting the soldiers he bumped into so they too would be safe. After doing so, he would rush over to the Queen. While he was severely injured, he needed to make sure no harm would come to her.
