History: In the Land of Dragons, Iroh trained with Dragon Jet, a black dragon of immense knowledge and insight in the martial ways. By completely forsaking the ability to use magic, Iroh was able to take all of his physical abilities unto a neigh-godly level, as well as unlock the secret art of 'Ki', a special power drawn from one's endurance versus their magical alignment. Soon after he learned the secrets of Dragon Jet, however, the ancient reptilian passed away, its essence being retained in a crystal egg called the Lao Mang Long Gem. For millenia, the Gem has kept the soul of Dragon Jet in a container until a suitable host, always another dragon or dragon-kin.

The greedy Iroh, however, felt that he still had much to gain from the wisdom of Dragon Jet, and one day took the egg, still fused with the draconic soul. Placing the smooth, palm-sized egg between his teeth, Iroh crushed the crystalline structure, absorbing the essence of the draconic being and infusing his soul with the centuries-old being.
