Tournament Planning: Party Members [Poll]

In planning for the upcoming tournament, we in staff are well on our way to getting the event up and running. I hope that this event will be a lot of fun for all of you, as well as a learning experience. But, in order to get the most out of this for all parties involved, we wanted to know what your opinions were on one aspect.

What should we do with party members?

Some options that have already been established are:
Allow party members to join alongside the character they're partnered with, like how Sora, Donald, and Goofy joined in tournaments together.
Do not allow party members to participate in the tournament.
Give party members their own bracket to fight in.

Given that the point of the tournament is to evaluate the combat system to it's fullest, I feel that using party members should be allowed. There is a lot that can be done between multiple characters, especially when they're designed specifically to work together. I feel that any and all aspects of the approval system should be permitted for use in the tournament, creating a TON of different scenarios that someone could potentially win with.

It should make the tournament interesting to compete in and host due to the potential for so many different creations to go head to head, while also allowing it to fulfill it's goal.

Yeah, that'd be interesting, having party members join in. It does give a clear disadvantage to those who don't have them, obviously, but I'm all for having party members join.

To reiterate, and perhaps expand on Serenae's post. The tournament is intended to gauge and measure the mechanical and competitive side of the site. Considering party members may be utilized as such, they should be grouped in with the main characters. This does provide an advantage to participants with party members, but we're not limiting the amount of spells people can use because others might not have as many prepared.

This is a competitive tournament. It isn't about story. It isn't about fairness. It's about testing a system that rewards you for utilizing everything to your advantage. Just because a member opts into a handicap does not mean others should be forced to.
